Abstract: The work is devoted to the study of psychological features of critical thinking of student youth. The theoretical analysis has shown that the formed critical thinking is one of the main factors in the socialization of the individual, since the individual as a subject of social relations is characterized by autonomy. In this regard, the study of the psychological characteristics of critical thinking of students as a component of social thinking from the standpoint of the subject-activity approach is relevant, as it provides the disclosure of the mechanisms of influence of society on the personal structures of the subject through the higher plan of its functioning - cognitive. The empirical study has confirmed that most respondents are quite knowledgeable and interactive, they are characterized by reflection and comparison of facts, they are able to analyze the situation and make the necessary decisions, but almost all five components are dominated by a low or medium level of critical thinking. It is noted that only with a sufficiently high level of students’ critical thinking, prospects for further professional activity open up, which requires the transformation of a university graduate into an independent, creative and critical thinking subject of activity, possessing the skills and abilities of business interaction and cooperation, manifested in non-standard approaches to solving problems.
