Abstract: This Master’s thesis is dedicated to the exploration of current trends in the design of preschool educational institutions in Ukraine and worldwide, as well as the development of a concept for a kindergarten located on K. Miklosh Street in Lviv. The thesis analyzes the evolution of preschool architecture, current principles and approaches to their design, as well as international experience in the creation of modern kindergartens that meet the requirements of safety, comfort, and inclusivity. Special attention is paid to the adaptation of architectural solutions to new social and technological realities, as well as the enhancement of energy efficiency and the sustainability of buildings. The first chapter of the thesis focuses on the study of contemporary trends in preschool design in Ukraine and abroad. The main aspects of planning are considered, including space organization, convenience for children, inclusivity, safety, and environmental sustainability of buildings. A comparison of design approaches in various countries, such as Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, is made, where the emphasis is placed on interactive and natural spaces that foster children’s development in harmony with the environment. The second chapter concentrates on the theoretical foundations and principles of designing kindergartens within the context of modern cities. In addition to traditional requirements such as functionality and comfort for children, an important trend is the integration of sustainable development principles and energy efficiency into architecture. The role of green spaces, the use of natural materials, and innovative technologies in the design of environmentally friendly kindergartens are discussed. The importance of the harmonious combination of functional areas with aesthetic aspects, which fosters the development of children’s creative abilities, is also explored. The third chapter contains the development of a concept for a kindergarten on K. Miklosh Street in Lviv, which aims to create a modern preschool institution that meets all the requirements for comfort, safety, and functionality. The design includes the integration of natural elements into both internal and external spaces, the use of natural materials, the creation of green roofs, and the application of energy-efficient technologies. The kindergarten will be divided into several functional zones, such as classrooms, playgrounds, sports, and cultural areas. The project also provides for adaptation to the needs of children with special requirements, the creation of convenient access routes, and ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities. The goal of the thesis is to study and implement modern principles and technologies in preschool design, specifically through the creation of a kindergarten project that meets all social, functional, and aesthetic demands. This not only improves the conditions for children’s learning and development but also creates a contemporary architectural model of a preschool institution that reflects innovative design approaches in Ukraine and abroad. Research findings: Modern preschool institutions must be not only functional but also take into account socio-ecological requirements, creating a comfortable environment for children’s development. An analysis of global trends in preschool design highlighted the preference for approaches based on the integration of natural elements and the use of environmentally friendly materials. Modern preschool design entails maximum adaptation to the needs of children with various physical abilities while maintaining high safety standards. The kindergarten project on K. Miklosh Street in Lviv involves the use of innovative architectural solutions, including the creation of green spaces, energy-efficient systems, and natural lighting to enhance the educational process and child development. The primary task of the project is to create a modern educational environment that meets the needs of both children and educators, ensuring a high level of comfort and safety.
