Abstract: The master’s qualification thesis explores functional innovations in furniture design and their influence on the organization of residential space. The relevance of the topic is driven by the need to create furniture that aligns with modern trends of mobility, multifunctionality, and environmental sustainability, adapted to rapid changes in the social environment and lifestyle. The first chapter analyzes the theoretical foundations of innovations in furniture design, including a review of relevant scientific works. It highlights, in particular, the historical impact of industrial innovations on furniture design. The second chapter includes a historical and cultural analysis of furniture development across various periods. It examines the transformation of furniture functions under the influence of changes in society, technology, and materials, allowing for the identification of key factors in its evolution. The third chapter focuses on promising directions in furniture design, such as space universalization, the integration of smart technologies, and the use of sustainable materials. Contemporary social contexts are also considered, exploring the potential of adaptive design in crisis situations. Emphasis is placed on the importance of ergonomic solutions and their role in creating a comfortable living environment. The fourth chapter presents a practical project that includes the development of multifunctional furniture meeting modern requirements for mobility, aesthetics, and adaptability.
