Characteristics of the educational program: Description of the subject area
Objects of study and activity are physical processes and phenomena on which the basis for operation of micro- and nanosystems; technological processes of their manufacture, principles of operation, complex systems and devices of micro- and nanosystems technology.
Learning objectives are acquiring the competencies necessary for the research and development of new and use of existing technologies, materials and devices of micro- and nanosystems technology, their design, manufacture, testing, maintence and modernisation.
Theoretical content of the subject area are fundamental principles of construction and functioning of complex micro- and nanosystems; methods of modelling objects and processes occurring in them; properties of materials; features of technological processes.
Methods, techniques and technologies for measuring and modelling the characteristics of materials, instruments, devices, apliences and systems; planning experiments and processing their results.
Instruments and equipment are devices and apliences of the micro- and nanosystems, control and measuring equipment, specialised technological equipment and tooling, software tools for calculating parameters, characteristics, modelling and programming, development and maintenance of the design documentation.
The main focus of the study programme is special education and professional training for research and development activities in the field of micro- and nanosystem technology, the content of which includes conceptual foundations, methodology, methods and tools for scientific research, analysis and applied development in the field of micro- and nanosystems technology.

Р1 Formulate and solve complex engineering, production and/or scientific problems in the design, manufacture and research of micro- and nanosystems, assess the possibility of bringing the obtained solutions to the level of competitive developments, create competitive developments, implement the results in business projects.
P2 Identify areas, develop and implement projects for modernising the production of micro- and nanosystems technology, taking into account technical, economic, legal, social and environmental aspects.
P3 Optimise the design of micro- and nanosystems systems, devices and components, as well as their manufacturing technologies.
Р4 Apply specialised conceptual knowledge, including modern scientific achievements, as well as critical understanding of modern problems in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics, to solve complex problems of professional activity.
Р5 Communicate fluently in the state and foreign languages orally and in writing to discuss professional problems and results of activities in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics, present research results and innovative projects.
Р6 Develop products and components of micro- and nanosystems technology, taking into account the requirements for their characteristics, technological and resource constraints; use modern design automation tools.
Р7 Solve problems of synthesis and analysis of micro- and nanosystems equipment and devices.
Р8 Collect the necessary information using scientific and technical literature, databases and other sources, analyse and evaluate it.
Р9 Ensure the quality of production; choose technologies that guarantee the required characteristics of products; apply modern methods of control of micro- and nanosystems technology.
Р10 Ensure professional development of team members, taking into account international experience and requirements for personnel in the development and operation of micro- and nanoelectronic systems.
Р11 Investigate processes in micro- and nanoelectronic systems, devices and components using modern experimental methods and equipment, perform statistical processing and analysis of experimental results.
Р12 Build and study physical, mathematical and computer models of micro- and nanoelectronics objects and processes.
Р13 Manage complex workflows in the field of production and/or research of micro- and nanoelectronic systems, objectively evaluate the performance of the team and individual employees, and identify measures to improve performance.
Р14 Coordinate the work of teams of executives for research, design, development, analysis, calculation, modelling, production and testing of micro- and nanoelectronic equipment
R15 Ensure the protection of intellectual property, commercialisation of the results of research, invention and design activities
Р16 Plan and carry out scientific and applied research in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics, choose effective research methods, argue conclusions, present research results to specialists and non-specialists.

Work placement(s): An important aspect of preparation of specialists on micro- and nanosystem technology is an educational and research practice that take place in laboratories of R&D Center "Crystal" (Lviv Polytechnic National University), departments of Scientific Research Company "Electron-Carat", Lviv, other institutions of R&D profile.
