Learning outcomes: To know:
• topographic maps nomenclature; land area definition on maps; geodetic measurements and processing; measure distance and angle; height diferences instruments and measuring; classification of regular and height geodetic networks; theodolite and tacheometric surveing; creation of topographic maps by tacheometric survey data.
To be able to:
• read scale 1:500 - 1:5000 topographic maps and define geodetic and rectangular point coordinates, altitude, slope; measure and orient line on the map; problem solve on topographic plans and maps; perform inspection and adjustment of geodetic instruments technical accuracy; perform angular, distance and high-altitude measurements; create survey network; perform contour and topographic surveing; prepare topographic maps.
Required prior and related subjects: physics, geography, geometry, math,
higher mathematics, physics, geodesy and topography p.2, higher geodesy, computer topography.
Summary of the subject: The concept of the shape and size of the Earth. Topographic maps. Geodetic measurements. Processing of geodetic measurements. Distance measurement. Angle measurement. Hight diference measurement. Geodetic surveying network. Surveing.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Write reports on laboratory work, the verbal component - 40 points
• Examination control: writing component - 50 points; verbal component - 10 points.
