Мета вивчення дисципліни: to give students an idea of the specifics of approaches to the study of social problems at various stages of the development of social sciences, in particular sociology, emphasizing the current state of analysis of social problems of modern societies. On this basis, students of the master's degree can develop the ability to scientifically analyze social problems of the national society and other modern societies.
Завдання: The study of the academic discipline involves the formation of the following competencies in the student: General competences: ZK04. Ability to work in an international context. ZK06. Ability to make informed decisions. Special (professional, subject) competences: SK02. The ability to identify, diagnose and interpret social problems of Ukrainian society and the world community. SK07. Ability to develop and evaluate social projects and programs.
Learning outcomes: PR01. Analyze social phenomena and processes using empirical data and modern concepts and theories of sociology. PR02. Diagnose and interpret social problems of Ukrainian society and the world community, their causes and consequences. PR03. Develop and implement social and interdisciplinary projects taking into account social, economic, legal, environmental and other aspects of social life. PR04. Apply scientific knowledge, sociological and statistical methods, digital technologies, specialized software to solve complex problems of sociology and related fields of knowledge. PR05. Search, analyze and evaluate the necessary information in scientific literature, data banks and other sources. PR06 Communicate freely orally and in writing in Ukrainian and one of the foreign languages when discussing professional issues, research and innovations in the field of sociology and related sciences, including in the context of cooperation with European and Euro-Atlantic institutions. PR07. To solve ethical dilemmas in accordance with the norms of professional ethics of a sociologist and universal human values. PR08. It is clear and unambiguous to convey knowledge, own conclusions and arguments on issues of sociology and related fields of knowledge to specialists and non-specialists, in particular to persons who are studying. PR09. Plan and carry out scientific research in the field of sociology, analyze the results, justify the conclusions. PR10. To teach sociological and related disciplines in educational institutions. Summary of the subject: The teaching of the discipline "Sociology of Social Problems" assumes that during its study, students must master the history and specifics of the analysis of social problems in sociology and other sciences, approaches to the interpretation of social problems and their dynamics in various sociological paradigms, options for regulating social problems and their consequences.
Опис: The concept and main characteristics of a social problem. Conceptualization of social problems. The structure of the social problem and its analysis. Dynamics of a social problem. Subjects of the process of social problematization: activists and experts. Subjects of the process of social problematization: mass media. Discourse analysis and frame analysis as a sociological toolkit for the study of social problems. Strategies of problematization and deproblematization.
Assessment methods and criteria: oral interviews, participation in discussions and interactive exercises, presentation of the study project (40%) • final control test, written form (60%)
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Report - 4 b. – quality of knowledge – its completeness, depth, flexibility, systematicity, strength; - correct use of conceptual and terminological apparatus; - speech culture (literacy, logic and sequence of presentation); - the level of meaningfulness of knowledge - the ability to formulate independent evaluation judgments and theoretical conclusions. Supplement - 1 b. - a scientifically based statement that reveals the essence of phenomena, processes, patterns. Performance of interactive exercises or case analysis - 4 b. - the sequence of solving the situation proposed in the exercise or case; - approaches to solving the situation proposed in the exercise or case study; - the quality of solving the situation proposed in the exercise or case study; - disclosure of cause-and-effect relationships between phenomena and processes during the solution of the situation proposed in the exercise or case.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
