Credits: 4.00
Department: Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology
Lecturer: Associate Professor Bolibrukh Liliia Dmytrivna
Semester: 5 семестр
Mode of study: денна
Мета вивчення дисципліни: The discipline "Pharmaceutical Chemistry" is a special course taught for students majoring in 162 Biotechnology and Bioengineering. It aims to familiarize students with individual medicines, their structural formulas, which contain information about physical, chemical and pharmacological properties, analytical and functional groups in their molecules and the presence of which is associated with methods of identification and quantification, prospects for creating new and more effective medicines; as well as to prepare students for production and technological activities.
Завдання: The study of the discipline involves the formation and development of student's skills: Integral competence (IC) Ability to solve complex specialized problems and practical problems characterized by complexity and uncertainty of conditions in biotechnology and bioengineering, or in the learning process that involves the application of theories and methods of biotechnology and bioengineering. Professional competencies: Ability to use knowledge of the pharmacological properties of chemical substances to analyze modern drugs. Ability to use knowledge of the structure, reactivity, relationship of chemical structure and biological activity of compounds of microbial, biosynthetic, chemical origin.
Learning outcomes: As a result of study of discipline a student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes: • to be able to use fundamental knowledge of general, inorganic, analytical, physical and colloid chemistry in the extent necessary for mastering general engineering and professionally oriented subjects; • tobe able to analyze raw materials, intermediates, target productsof biotechnological production, bioproducts, biopreparations; • to know the basics of implementing chemistry of natural, pharmaceutical, toxemiacarcinogenic and other biologically active substances, structure and properties of inorganic, organic and bioorganic compounds, and also methods of their qualitative and quantitative analysis in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: • General Chemistry • Organic chemistry • Analytical Chemistry Co-requisites: • Chemistryof biological active substances • Chemistry of carcinogens
Summary of the subject: The discipline "Pharmaceutical Chemistry" forms students' modern ideas about individual medicines, physical, chemical and pharmacological properties, methods of analysis, namely, determination of identity, quantification, storage and use of medicines. As a result of studying this discipline, the student acquires the relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for organizing the activities of biotechnology enterprises and solving practical problems of quality assurance.

Assessment methods and criteria: The main methods of knowledge diagnosis are: current (PC) and semester control (SC), which is carried out from educational material, the scope of which is determined by the work program of the discipline for the semester. Current control is carried out during lectures and laboratory classes in order to check the level of assimilation of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of the student. PC is conducted in the form of: performance of control work, written and oral control and protection of laboratory work. Semester control is carried out in the form of differentiated credit (credit). Differentiated credit is a form of SC of the student's study results exclusively for all types of work provided by the program of the academic discipline.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: • written reports from laboratory work, test, control work - 50 points; • final control - 50 points (control, exam): written-oral form.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, and reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, a violation of the sequence of presentation, or weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) are awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, and ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
