Professional competences:
- linguistic, which represents the level of knowledge of language norms and the ability to demonstrate language skills;
- socio-linguistic, which presupposes the ability of a learner to produce and identify language styles according to a particular communicative situation;
- pragmatic, which shows the ability to use acquired knowledge to influence an interlocutor while communicating in a foreign language.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the module learners are expected to be able to:
- make and give structured presentations of professional content using appropriate linguistic and non-linguistic means of communication;
- demonstrate the ability to arrange information on common study and job/ specialism-related topics in a logical and coherent way, demonstrate a sufficient appropriate vocabulary range related to the topic of presentation;
- interpret graphical information using appropriate linguistic means;
- select and sort out relevant information by scanning and skimming through education- and employment-related web-sites;
- demonstrate a working understanding of the purpose, structure, general and detailed content and requirements of education- and employment-related documentation;
- write education- and employment-related papers (a resume, a cover/motivation letter) with a sufficient degree of grammatical accuracy and appropriate vocabulary range; revise, edit and proofread them;
- demonstrate a working understanding of existing rules and standard procedures while participating as an applicant in an academic/job interview;
- perform effectively during the job interview: respond to the interviewers’ questions with an ample degree of precision, appropriacy and a sufficient range of vocabulary; ask related to the situation open-ended questions; use suitably verbal (lexis and grammar) and non-verbal (melody, pauses, gestures, postures, dress code, cosmetics etc.) means of communication.

Co-requisites: Foreign language for specific purposes.
Summary of the subject: Тhe curriculum for the descipline "Foreign language II" is aimed at the students who possess level A2-B1 according to the general European recommendations on learning and teaching modern languages.
At the end of the course students are supposed to acquire level B1+ which is an intermediary one between lower-intermediate and upper-intermadiate levels.
The course is practically oriented and thus enables students to get communicative competence in a foreign language. Learning process is based on integration of language knowledge and skills in situational context according to a major students have chosen. Selfstuding and individual studying are considered to be an essential part of the curriculum.

Presenting Information. (Structuring the material for a presentation. Organising and practicing Introduction. Structuring and practicing the Body of presentation. Interpreting visual aids. Organizing and practicing a Conclusion. Using visual aids. Language and rules of delivery. Using Body language. Handling questions and organizing a discussion. Delivering full individual presentations.)
Assessment methods and criteria: Assessment methods:
- oral and direct questioning;
- questioning in writing;
- random oral questioning;
- presentations during practical classes;
- tests;
- activity assessment;
- evaluation of proposals, original decisions, suggestions, etc.

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: Listening - Complete comprehension of the listening material. Students have to demonstrate the ability to comprehend and reproduce, interpret, memorise the material and perform oral and written tasks.
Reading - students demonstrate the knowledge of the reading material; they are able to reproduce all the facts correctly; certain inconsistencies are allowed, however, students should demonstrate critical thinking, the ability to analyze and lay out the material consecutively. Students understand and can explain most of the words in a text, can translate and use them participating in a discussion.
Speaking - students are able to express themselves on a given topic using lexical and grammar constructions, speak fluently and support their point of view by the help of language means and participate in discussions.
Writing - students possess an appropriate level of knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. A written paper should be concise, coherent, logical (an essay, a letter, a summary, etc.)
Presentation assessment criteria
Presentation is prepared in accordance with the topic suggested and a plan devised by a student. The rules of a presentation and its format should be observed.
A student demonstrates deep knowledge of a subject presenting the material clearly, logically, critically. Analytical approach and additional material to the topic are required.
Presentation itself should be complex, coherent, argumentative, with an individual approach to solving a problem.
