Learning outcomes: • Must know the basics of the structure of atoms and molecules, the connection between the energy of electrons in an atom and the structure of molecules and their properties; • The acquisition of knowledge of basic laws of chemistry and the ability to use them for practical purposes, knowledge of calculations technique and solving simple problems in experimental chemistry. • Knowledge of basic chemical elements and their compounds. • Development of individual skills of doing experiments in chemistry, generalization of experimental facts and making conclusions.

Summary of the subject: Properties of simple compounds of chemical elements. The structure of the atom and periodic law. Chemical bond. Energetics of chemical processes. Chemical Thermodynamics. Redox reactions. Electrochemical processes. Chemistry of metals. Corrosion of metals. Macromolecular compounds.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on laboratory work, recitation, test (30%) • summative assessment (70% control activity, exam) : written and oral form (70%)
