- FCS1.2. The ability to use the mathematical apparatus and the results of experimental studies to master the theoretical foundations and practical use of the methods of physical and chemical research of polymer and composite materials.
Learning outcomes: As a result of studying the academic discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
- to know the main stages of designing plastic parts;
- to navigate in the main types of forms and equipment for the manufacture of plastic products and choose the optimal ones;
- to know the main types and functions of graphic CAD;
- to have the basics of practical use of automated design systems for plastic processing equipment.
- to be able to give a professional assessment of the design of a plastic part from the point of view of its manufacturability and to conduct an analysis of individual elements of the design;
- to carry out basic structural and technological calculations of forms and forming elements of equipment.
- to be able to use the skills of working with two- and three-dimensional graphic systems in practice.
As a result of the study of the academic discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
PR9. Apply theoretical knowledge and practical approaches to the management of processing processes of polymer and composite materials.
PR10. Develop and modernize polymer and composite materials processing processes in accordance with modern innovative technologies.
KOM1. Clear and unambiguous presentation of one's own knowledge, conclusions and arguments to specialists and non-specialists, in particular, to students.

Summary of the subject: During the study of the discipline "CAD and design of plastic products and equipment for their formation", students gain knowledge of the basics of designing plastic products and designing a forming tool for their production.
The discipline consists of five sections.
The first chapter is devoted to the construction of plastic products, the classification of plastics, the methodical basis for the selection of polymers, issues of accuracy and quality of products, determination of their strength and durability are presented.
In the second part, the structure, operation, design features and basics of designing molds for pressing are highlighted.
The third part is dedicated to familiarizing students with the basics of developing functional systems of molds for injection molding of thermoplastics.
The fourth chapter contains information about the materials used to manufacture the elements of the forming equipment and the methods of making the forms.
The material of the fifth chapter introduces students to the types of CAD and the basics of designing plastic products and equipment for their manufacture using graphic automated design systems.
The material of the discipline can be used during course and diploma projects.
Опис: Plastics as structural materials. Classification by purpose. Classification criteria according to performance and properties. Stages of work on the use of plastic masses for the manufacture of products. Methodical bases of the choice of plastics for the manufacture of products.
Processing of plastic products for manufacturability. Analysis of structural elements of plastic products in order to ensure optimal manufacturability and necessary operational properties of products.
Accuracy and quality of plastic products. Basics of interchangeability. Admissions and landings.
Stages of creating a forming tool for plastics processing. Initial data for design. Classification of equipment for plastic processing by casting and pressing methods.
Forms for pressing. Purpose, structure and principle of operation of forms for compression pressing. Stationary casting molds, typical construction, mold details, mold operation.
Designing details of press forms. Main design features. Designing nests and loading chambers. Installation of fittings and threaded signs.
A system for removing products from the mold cavity. Centering system. Installation and fixing of press forms.
Molds for injection molding. Purpose, structure and principle of action. System of design details.
Sprinkler systems. Purpose and classification. Cold channel shower systems. Hot channel shower systems.
Mold temperature control system for injection molding. Purpose, classification. Design features of cooling systems.
Ejection systems. Purpose, classification, design features. Movement and centering systems.
The design process considering the possibility of its automation. CAD classification. Using CAD. CAD in the design of equipment for processing plastics into products.
Assessment methods and criteria: Oral and written surveys during practical classes, control and current testing in the Virtual Learning Envirorment, examination testing, oral survey during the exam.

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100-88 points - certified with an “excellent” grade - High level: the student demonstrates an in-depth mastery of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of the discipline, systematic knowledge, skills and abilities of their practical application. The mastered knowledge, skills and abilities provide the ability to independently formulate goals and organize learning activities, search and find solutions in non-standard, atypical educational and professional situations. The applicant demonstrates the ability to make generalizations based on critical analysis of factual material, ideas, theories and concepts, to formulate conclusions based on them. His/her activity is based on interest and motivation for self-development, continuous professional development, independent research activities, implemented with the support and guidance of the teacher. 87-71 points - certified with a grade of “good” - Sufficient level: involves mastery of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of the discipline at an advanced level, conscious use of knowledge, skills and abilities to reveal the essence of the issue. Possession of a partially structured set of knowledge provides the ability to apply it in familiar educational and professional situations. Aware of the specifics of tasks and learning situations, the student demonstrates the ability to search for and choose their solution according to the given sample, to argue for the use of a particular method of solving the problem. Their activities are based on interest and motivation for self-development and continuous professional development. 70-50 points - certified with a grade of “satisfactory” - Satisfactory level: outlines the mastery of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of the discipline at the average level, partial awareness of educational and professional tasks, problems and situations, knowledge of ways to solve typical problems and tasks. The applicant demonstrates an average level of skills and abilities to apply knowledge in practice, and solving problems requires assistance, support from a model. The basis of learning activities is situational and heuristic, dominated by motives of duty, unconscious use of opportunities for self-development. 49-00 points - certified with a grade of “unsatisfactory” - Unsatisfactory level: indicates an elementary mastery of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of the discipline, a general understanding of the content of the educational material, partial use of knowledge, skills and abilities. The basis of learning activities is situational and pragmatic interest.
