Abstract: Designing public transport routes in cities is a difficult task, as it requires taking into account the interests of different aspects of the transport process [1-3]. It involves: residents who require fast, safe and cheap transport services; owners of public transport, who demand an increase in fares, reduction of traffic delays, compensation for fares for the privileged category of the population; city government, which oversees the quality of transport services. It is extremely difficult to take into account the requirements of all participants in the transportation process at the same time. Like any other transport project, the design of the public transport network has its stages [2-4]. At the first stage it is necessary to conduct mass transport studies to determine the need for movement. Such research begins with the transport zoning of the territory, where the transport areas themselves are marked, their boundaries (main main streets, natural obstacles, reservoirs, etc.), centers of attraction (district and city importance), the number of inhabitants are determined. At this stage, it is important to conduct a quality and detailed documentary study. The next stage is to conduct the same mass field research, during which the directions of transport correspondence and their size are determined. Based on the results of this stage, a matrix of correspondence is being built, which in the future will be the basis for building a public transport network. Applying the methods of probability theory, the volumes of possible movements of sections of the transport network between transport areas are determined [5,6]. When designing a high-quality public transport route network, it is necessary to take into account long-term development plans of the territory, as the emergence of large urban centers of attraction, residential areas and industrial zones causes a redistribution of passenger flows. It also contributes to their unevenness during the day [7]. After studying the directions and volumes of passenger correspondence, they start laying routes and choosing the type of rolling stock that will qualitatively provide such a need for movement. The development of a public transport route network requires the constant participation of residents in order to minimize the risks associated with the level of satisfaction. In this master’s thesis the whole complex of described researches is carried out on the example of Sykhiv district of Lviv. The peculiarity of this area is that it has clearly defined functions of the residential area, is relatively new, has streets suitable for quality transport process. At present, this transport area is served by buses, trolleybuses and trams. Study object – public transport network. Scope ofresearch – determination of regularities of redistribution of passenger flows on the public transport network in the urban area. Goal of research: to determine the patterns of change in the volume of passenger traffic provided by public transport on sections of the transport network. Keywords: city public transport; passenger flow, transport area, matrix of passenger correspondence, transport research, residential area, density of transport network. References. 1.
