Abstract: Bohachuk V., Royko Yu (supervisor). Analysis of methods of accidence determination using statistical data about accidents. Master’s thesis. – Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv, 2020. Extended abstract. The basis for the implementation of any measures to increase traffic safety in a particular place on the street or road is the analysis of road accidents (accidents) committed at that place. Traditionally, the basis for the engineering analysis of accidents at a certain place of the road network (VDM) was the number of accidents [1-3]. However, accidents were not classified according to severity, and significant accidents were considered along with minor ones. The study of places of concentration of significant road accidents provides a greater opportunity to reduce accidents on them than the study of sites of minor accidents. The severity of the accident is characterized by the rate of the most serious injury among all victims of the accident [1-3]. It gives the chance to receive such categories of weight: road accident with death of people, road accident with injury of people, road accident with car damage. The classification of the significance of an accident requires the establishment of objective indicators of each degree of significance. There is no sufficient statistical basis for the development of these indicators, as a result of which these indicators are controversial. It is usually difficult to study the accident rate at all VDM sites, so it is necessary to select them. The first stage is to build a list of places that are divided according to the criterion of accident risk, or by registered accidents. The next step is to determine how large this list should be. The two main ways to assess the risk of accidents are to determine their number and relative accident [4-6]. Determining the number of accidents is the simplest way, which involves creating a list of places, depending on the accident. Places with more accidents are listed first, and places with fewer are second, and so on. Analysis of such a list allows you to choose the location of road signs and traffic lights in terms of ensuring maximum traffic safety. Almost always the places of the accident differ in terms of traffic, traffic conditions and features of the road accident. Considering the classification of traffic conditions in the areas of VDM separately from the standpoint of the driver of the vehicle and pedestrian, we can distinguish the following 3 types [6]: free, which are characterized by the absence of mutual obstacles for both parties; complicated, which are characterized by the creation of mutual obstacles by road users, limit the choice of traffic regime for drivers and cause delays for pedestrians, while forcing them to move simultaneously with the left and right-hand traffic flows; critical - conditions under which the way out of the created conflict situation is possible only at emergency actions of the pedestrian or the driver. Study object – road accidents. Scope ofresearch – statistical analysis and patterns of road accidents. Goal of research: to determine the patterns of occurrence of road accidents, based on the results of statistical analysis. Keywords: vehicle, traffic accident, traffic conditions, accident, traffic safety. References. 1. Havrylov E.V., Dmytrychenko M.F., Dolya V.K., Lanovyy O.T., Lynnyk I.E., Polishchuk V.P. (2007).
