Master’s thesis. - Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv, 2020. Extended abstract. Food security plays a key role in the socio-economic development of the state. The most important strategic goals of ensuring food security are to maintain the adequacy of domestic production and imports of high quality food, the stability of food supplies in the country, the affordability of food for citizens and the ability to maintain a rational consumption pattern. Study object – the state food security. Scope of research – activities of domestic agricultural producers, in particular LLC «Zakhid-Agro MHP». Goal of research: development of recommendations for intensifying the development of domestic agricultural producers in order to increase food security of the state. Research results. The works of many domestic and foreign researchers: I. Binko, S. Bekenov, Yu. Bocharova, O. Goichuk, M. Yermoshenko, T. Kurman, G. Makhovikova, V. Osipov, S. Urba [4], V. Shlemko are devoted to the theoretical and methodological substantiation of the process of formation of food security of the country. The problems of functioning and development of the agricultural sector of the economy were studied in the works of such scientists as V. Andriichuk, P. Haidutskyi, M. Demianenko, A. Dibrova, M. Kisil, M. Kropyvko, N. Prokopenko, I. Rumyk [3], P. Sabluk, O. Senyshyn and other. The essence of the definition of «food security» at the international level was revealed in the WFS in 1996 through the definition of the main components of food security [5]: food security, access to food, use, food stability. Food security is a determinant of the sustainable development of Ukraine. Decision-making to improve the food security of the country should be based on the results of an analytical study of the state, trends and prospects for the development of the main factors that affect and shape it [1]. Indicators of food security are quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the state, dynamics and prospects of physical and economic availability of food for all social and demographic groups, level and structure of their consumption, quality and safety of food, stability and degree of independence of the domestic food market, level of development of the agricultural sector and related sectors of the economy, as well as the efficiency of natural resource potential [2]. Based on the results of the study of the state of food security of Ukraine, the agricultural sector and the performance of LLC "Zakhid-Agro MHP", the main threats to the development of domestic agricultural producers are: inefficient use of production and resource potential of the agricultural sector; strengthening of imbalances in the sectoral structure of agriculture; low level of financial support for the development of the agricultural sector; non-compliance with international standards and food quality system; high degree of import dependence on certain food products. Proposals to improve the activities of agricultural enterprises in the context of improving food security of the state are grouped in two directions: the first is aimed at finding ways to intensify the entire agricultural sector, the second - to improve production and economic activities of LLC «Zakhid-Agro MHP». Measures to intensify the development of LLC «Zakhid-Agro MHP» in the context of ensuring food security of the state are proposed: introduction at the state level of an effective model of strengthening food security of Ukraine aimed at improving the physical availability of food, increasing food affordability and guaranteeing quality and safety of agricultural products ; transition to the production of organic products; use of resource-saving technologies.
