Abstract: In recent years, journalistic practice has undergone significant changes as a result of global changes taking place in the world community. The guidelines for determining the topic of the future edition and its content, the format of interaction with the audience and the method of distributing the material have changed. Journalists are increasingly opting for long Twitter posts, quick Facebook posts and a variety of blog posts. One of the main reasons for these metamorphoses was the active development of the Internet and social networks. According to statistics, today a huge number of people learn about current world events and news not through specialized portals or newspapers, but through the social channels of their friends. For example, about 30% of Americans use Facebook to consume their daily dose of news. In Ukraine, such a reorientation of the audience occurs much more slowly, but there is also a positive vector of the introduction of new technologies into everyday life. Object of study. Social networks in the work of a journalist. Subject of study. Comprehensive characteristics and structural analysis of the features of the use of social networks in the work of a journalist. By adding a little creativity to your content strategy, you can stand out from the crowd. In addition, it allows the public to be involved in more than just textbooks. Some of the live content is both interesting and accessible to followers, which is key to establishing your personal brand as a journalist. In addition, the research findings indicate that the process of data collection and processing requires a lot of technical and journalistic attention, as it requires constant attention to whether the data are accurate, whether the available data show objective results, whether enough data have been found to confirm/ refutation. the thesis of the author, whether the data is relevant, whether there is new information on the research question, whether other sources refer to similar data and whether they correspond to existing data, how qualified and reliable is the data source (who created the database), why and when the data were collected, whether there are obstacles to accessing the full database, whether other journalists have used the data and what the results have been. In general, the role of "big data" in modern journalism is difficult to overestimate. First, it is an important source for research on topics that are often overlooked in such confidential information, abuse, illegal immigrants and criminal activity can be detected and proven. In addition, Big Data is not only a source of information, but also a base of evidence. Using quantitative, statistical indicators as arguments for his theses, the journalist increases the level of audience loyalty, the level of trust in the publication. Data analysis, detection of connections, correlations, forecasts, ratings allow you to create attractive and reliable content that attracts the audience and improves the reputation of the publication.
