Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning: Provided that the previous level was obtained in another country, nostrification is required, which is carried out by the Lviv Polytechnic.
Qualification requirements and regulations, including graduation requirements: The student must complete a training program of 90 ECTS credits, which includes: disciplines of the general training cycle - 6 ECTS credits, disciplines of the professional training cycle - 84 ECTS credits. Elective components of the educational and professional program make up 24 ECTS credits. ECTS credits are credited to the student in case of successful completion of written (oral) assessments or exams in the academic discipline, defense of coursework and projects, defense of practical reports. The final state certification includes the defense of the master's qualification thesis.
Characteristics of the educational program: The educational and professional program is based on modern engineering and technical developments and the results of scientific research in the field of construction and architecture and is oriented towards actual specialization, within the framework of which a further professional career is possible: construction and reconstruction of highways and airfields; repair, operation and maintenance of highways; design of roads, street and road network of settlements, and airfields; diagnostics of the technical condition of roads. The main focus is on innovative materials and modern energy- and resource-saving technologies in road construction.
Gained competence: - apply specialized conceptual knowledge, including modern scientific achievements, as well as critical understanding of modern problems in the field of construction and civil engineering to solve complex problems of professional activity; - the ability to solve construction and civil engineering problems in new or unfamiliar environments in the presence of incomplete or limited information, taking into account aspects of social and ethical responsibility; - apply the acquired knowledge and understanding to identify, formulate and solve the problems of the development of highways and airfields, using known methods; - apply knowledge to solve typical problems of synthesis and analysis in the field of construction of highways and airfields; - communicate freely in the state language orally and in writing to discuss professional problems and results of activities in the field of architecture and construction; - specialized conceptual knowledge, which includes modern scientific achievements in the field of professional activity or field of knowledge and is the basis for original thinking and conducting research; - critical understanding of problems in the field and on the border of the fields of knowledge.
- design buildings and structures (according to specialization), including usage of computer design software systems, with the aim of ensuring their reliability and durability, making rational design and technical decisions, technical and economic justification, taking into account the features of the construction object, determination of the optimal mode of its functioning and implementation of resource and energy saving measures; - carry out technical examination of projects of construction and civil engineering objects (in accordance with specialization), monitoring the compliance of projects and technical documentation with design tasks, technical conditions and other applicable regulatory and legal documents in the field of architecture and construction; - to operate, maintain and control the quality of construction of structures and civil engineering facilities; - to select modern materials, technologies and methods of execution of the construction production process, taking into account the architecture and planning, constructive part of the project and the base of the construction organization; - specialized skills/problem-solving skills necessary for conducting research and/or implementing innovative activities for the purpose of developing new knowledge and procedures; - the ability to integrate knowledge and solve complex problems in broad or multidisciplinary contexts; - the ability to solve problems in new or unfamiliar environments in the presence of incomplete or limited information, taking into account aspects of social and ethical responsibility.
