Characteristics of the educational program: The educational program is based on the general positions and results of modern scientific research on Earth sciences and focuses on current specializations, with possible further professional and scientific career: space monitoring of the Earth, Cartography and Geotechnical Engineering. Students should obtain the knowledge for the satellite geodesy, surveying, mapping and GIS training within the "Earth sciences" educational program. The Earth sciences specialists’ skill is referred to the areas of geodesy, geodynamics, geophysics, meteorology, mapping technology for various branches of the Earth science and production, development of geodatabase for different geographic information systems. Laboratory classes are conducted using modern surveying and mapping equipment and software. During the period of practical training students are performed a variety of work including preprocessing, information about structures of corresponding companies, data processing, etc. The total amount of educational and professional program – 240 ECTS credits, incl.: cycle of humanitarian and socio-economic training – 24 credits, natural-scientific training cycle – 65 credits, cycle of professional and practical training – 151 credits.
Gained competence: - systematic understanding of basic aspects and concepts of the Earth Sciences; - the search of information from various sources and the implementation of work using basic skills on professional topics; - combining theory and practice, and make decisions to solve specialty tasks considering human values, social, public and industrial interests; - communication skills, including oral and written communication in Ukrainian and one of the foreign languages; - the skill to adapt to new situations and make the corresponding decisions; - understanding the need of lifelong learning to enhance the acquired and acquiring of new professional knowledge.
- demonstrating of the knowledge and understanding the solution of the qualitative and quantitative tasks, evaluation, interpretation and synthesis of information data; - apply knowledge and understanding to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems specialties using known methods; - basic skill to information management from primary and secondary information sources, including recovery of information via the electronic search; - basic skill of technical characteristics, structural features, purpose and rules of operation of equipment for solving technical problems of the Earth Sciences.

Work placement(s): An important aspect of the training in Earth sciences are educational and qualifying educational and technological practical trainings, which take place at the laboratories of the Institute of Geodesy and specialized institutions of the National Academy of Sciences and science - engineering profile departmental institutions

Occupational profiles of graduates: Professional profile – Earth space monitoring. Combined work of data collection, modeling and analysis of the results in geodesy, geophysics, geodynamics and meteorology. Its includes modern methods of space monitoring, informational technology capabilities to fully provide global satellite navigation systems (GNSS), as well as forecasting of geodynamic phenomena, atmospheric processes and climate changes, gravitational and magnetic fields of the Earth. Useful to solve various tasks of space monitoring in the frame of satellite technologies. Professional profile – Cartography. Works to design and construction a variety of maps including topographic, political, administrative, geological, demographic, economic, tourism, education and others maps. Provides mapping of natural and socio-economic effects. Performs mapping by using modern digital (graphic and GIS) technologies and web mapping. Works for developing and maintenance of geospatial databases, registers of geographical names. Performs work on the development of geographic information systems for various purposes. Professional profile – Applied Engineering. Combined work for geodetic, geological, geophysical, geotechnical and related prospecting and consulting works in the areas of engineer-technical providing of construction projects of engineering structures and buildings and geotechnical monitoring safety during their construction and operation. Modern technologies of ecological and industrial monitoring for complex modeling of buildings and structures interconnection with geological environment. Methodological approaches of applied geodynamic analysis for solving extrapolate tasks and search tasks, assessment of risks from natural disasters to provide expert conclusions.
