Learning outcomes: 1. Know the basic methods and algorithms used in image processing problems. 2. Know the basic software for digital processing of aerospace images. 3. Apply methods of organizing the input of raster data and images of different formats and types in the environment of instrumental GIS; 4. Know the structure of digital images and the main formats for saving images; 5. Know the general procedures for improving, segmenting images, restoring damaged images, methods and tools for image processing; 6. Know the tasks, structure and functional purpose of professional image processing systems.
Required prior and related subjects: 1. Geoinformation analysis. 2. Mathematical models of analytical and space photogrammetry.
Summary of the subject: Image segmentation: detection of brightness gaps; threshold processing; segmentation into separate areas. Processing of color images: models of color images; spatial filtering of color images; color segmentation. Model of the image distortion / recovery process. Noise models. Elimination of periodic noise by frequency filtering methods. Noise elimination by spatial filtration methods: inverse filtering; Wiener filtration; geometric image transformations. Basic morphological operations: dilatation and erosion; opening and closing; transformation "Success / Failure"; segmentation of images by morphological data. Description of image elements: contour descriptors; area descriptors; topological descriptors; textural descriptors.
