Learning outcomes: - know the methods of obtaining laser radiation and methods of controlling its parameters; - know the effects of the interaction of laser radiation with living matter; - know the methods of selection of effective parameters of laser radiation in solving a specific problem of medicine and ecology; - know the features of plasma and plasma devices used in medicine According to the requirements of the educational-professional program, students must be able to: - choose methods and means of laser and plasma technology in solving medical problems; - apply laser and plasma technologies in medical instrument making - evaluate the parameters of laser and plasma devices; - to ensure occupational safety measures when using laser and plasma equipment in a medical institution. Analyze and solve complex medical engineering and biomedical problems using mathematical methods and information technology. Assess the biological and technical aspects and consequences of the interaction of engineering and bioengineered objects with biological systems, anticipate their mutual influence, legal, deontological and moral and ethical consequences of use.

Summary of the subject: The subject of the study of the discipline "Lasers in medicine and biology" is the biophysical effects of the interaction of laser radiation with living matter, laser and plasma methods for solving medical problems.
Assessment methods and criteria: Semester control: lab reports, interviewing, written tests – 40 points (40 %). Final control: control procedure - written and verbal examination – 60 points (60 %).
