Abstract: The project of production of dry extract from the grass Calluna vulgaris L. (common heather) is presented in the master’s thesis. The theoretical questions were studied, the advantages of this development were substantiated, the characteristics were given, the pharmacognostic study of medicinal plant raw materials was conducted, and the content of extractive substances was determined. The purpose of this master’s thesis is to review the literature on the morphology, distribution, varieties, harvesting and storage of Calluna vulgaris grass, its chemical composition, pharmacological properties and application; performance of material and economic calculations, development of a basic technological scheme for the production of dry extract. According to the results of the patent search, the expediency of this project was confirmed. Today, on the market, Calluna vulgaris is mostly used in cosmetology and in the textile industry, and there are no herbal medicines with anti-inflammatory antioxidant, anti-ulcer and antimicrobial effects with its content . So, the dry extract of Calluna vulgaris is a novelty among herbal preparations, effective, including, in the treatment of cystitis. Despite the wide use of common heather in traditional medicine, medicinal products are practically absent. The data on the antimicrobial properties of the Calluna vulgaris herb, namely, the study of the pharmacological activity of the medicinal plant material with an emphasis on the antimicrobial properties and the effect on some pathogens of the urinary tract, are considered in detail. All clinical strains of staphylococci used in this study were found to be resistant to penicillin. The antimicrobial activity of raw materials against Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans is alsoimportant since these yeasts are resistant to the action of the most commonly used antibiotics. Antimicrobial activity is characteristic of ursolic acid, the largest amount of which is contained in the grass Calluna vulgaris compared to other types of heather. The herb also contains phenolic compounds that exhibit antibacterial properties . Thus, the extract may have a significant effect on the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections. It was these data that led to an in-depth study of this medicinal raw material, to the development of a project for obtaining a dry extract and the need to create new medicinal forms based on it. Study object: the herb Calluna vulgaris, extractive substances with marked antibacterial and antimicrobial activity and accompanying substances that enhance the therapeutic effect. Goal of a research: determination of the qualitative composition of medicinal plant raw material Calluna vulgaris, production of dry extract from the herb and its use in the creation of new medicinal forms. Research results: an analysis of the assortment of the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine in 2022 was carried out to identify medicinal products that include the herb Calluna vulgaris. The composition of these drugs, manufacturers and dosage forms are considered . It was established that there are practically no herbal preparations containing Calluna vulgaris on the market of Ukraine, which confirms the prospect of manufacturing new medicinal products. This project includes production technology, which consists of six main technological stages. Based on the material calculations, the number of extractive substances contained in 1 kg of Calluna vulgaris raw material was determined. The cost of production was calculated based on technical and economic calculations carried out for the developed project. Keywords: a review of the literature, including a patent search, an experimental part, a graphic part, which includes a basic technological scheme and its description.
