Abstract: Currently, the road network (RN) of cities is an integral element of the urban transport system. The operation of urban public transport is impossible without interaction with automobile transport, as it ensures the main functionality. Issues related to the reduced operation of the network, which have become common in the largest cities, significantly affect the entire city’s transport complex. Transport delays on the network, the emergence of traffic jams characterized by increased travel time, deterioration of the quality of transport services, increased environmental pollution due to increased emissions and noise indicate the inadequacy of the RN to the current state of transport infrastructure development. This problem is accompanied by a lag in ensuring and designing the necessary transport performance indicators for public transport. Solving this problem today requires significant implementation of effective urban planning, technical, administrative measures, and measures for managing and organizing traffic and the coordinated operation of the entire city transport system. It is noted that public transport stops before the intersection, in some cases, function better than after the intersection. This can be explained by the fact that cars queued up before the stop line can give priority to public transport. The relevance of the study is to determine how effective the separate traffic lanes for public transport that move on the studied section are. The study involved field research of public transport vehicles traveling on dedicated lanes approaching the intersection of Shyroka Street. An analysis of the traffic conditions for public transport was conducted, and the reasons for delays in public transport were identified and analyzed, as well as how peak hours of the day affect movement on dedicated lanes. This research and analysis were conducted in both the reverse and forward directions of traffic. The most important component defining the master’s thesis is monitoring all types of public transport that pass through this intersection and constantly approach it. Research Object – the operation of public transport on dedicated lanes on Shyroka Street. Research Subject – approaches to the intersection, movement on dedicated lanes for route vehicles. Research Goal: to improve the efficiency of public transport on Shyroka Street. As a result of the conducted research, an analysis of the current state of traffic organization on the section, traffic intensity, and basic indicators on approaches to the intersection with the street was carried out. Measures for organizing public transport by separating one lane for its movement were developed. Keywords – public transport, traffic lane, public transport stops, traffic intensity, traffic flow.
