Research and use of Greece’s experience in the organization of international food trade activities by domestic enterprises

Abstract: The master’s thesis deals with the issue of organizing international food trade by domestic enterprises, examines the experience of Greece and the EU in this area. Since the volume of investments in Ukraine is growing every year, and a large share of them goes to the food industry, the topic of improving the quality of its own product, and especially its bringing to the leading positions of the Ukrainian and international markets, is becoming increasingly relevant. In order to successfully deepen European integration and ensure free trade between Ukraine and the EU, it is important to study the topic of strengthening foreign trade in food products by implementing EU practices for organizing international trade activities by domestic enterprises. The scope of research is the analysis and use of the Greek experience in organizing international food trade by domestic enterprises.The object of study is Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS". Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS" was established on April 15, 2011. The company’s legal address is 70 B Shyroka Street, Lviv, 79052, Lviv region, Ukraine. The head of the organization is Olena Baranovska. The authorized capital is UAH 1,000,000. The principal activities of the company are wholesale trade in food and beverages, as well as activities of intermediaries in food trade and retail trade. The general direction of the company’s activities and its mission is to enable Ukrainian consumers to buy European quality goods at an affordable price. The company’s main principles are health, quality and affordable prices.The company’s strategic goals include strengthening the company’s position as one of the leading players in the grocery market, consistently looking for new markets, based on the growing demand for food products, and developing its own distribution network [1]. One way or another, the company needs to research and implement the experience of European countries on the specifics of organizing international food trade. It is also worth noting that the research and development of a complex measure on the example of the subject of the study, Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS" Master’s thesis, can also be used in the practice of other domestic and foreign companies to develop their international economic relations or foreign economic relations. Since the aim of research is to study the peculiarities of the Greek experience in organizing international food trade, as well as to analyze and develop recommendations for the implementation of this experience by domestic enterprises, in particular, Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS", one of the tasks of this thesis is to study the Greek approach to the formation of the organizational structure of enterprise management. The paper demonstrates the implementation of the Greek experience in the activities of Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS". The article also considers the issue of rational planning of the enterprise’s activity space. The feasibility of doing business in the territory of the industrial park is assessed. The main advantages and disadvantages are identified. The paper analyzes the EU principles of intellectual property management and develops recommendations for the use of a number of tools by the Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS". The problems of the Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS" in the process of organizing international food trade are identified, and specific ways to solve them by following the experience of Greece and the EU countries are presented. The paper uses the methods of theoretical generalization, analysis, synthesis and comparison. Graphical visualization is used to present the results of the research and formulate recommendations.In the course of this work, it was determined that trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Greece are developing quite dynamically. Greece is an important foreign economic partner of Ukraine in its region [2]. The volume of investment and trade between the countries is growing and is expected to continue to grow. It has been determined that most of the investments go to food production. Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS" plans to strengthen the company’s position by growing its business and distribution network, and consistently entering new markets, including Europe. Greece is one of the company’s trading partners. Foreign trade in Greece is developing more dynamically, and the dynamics of the country’s industrial sector is twice as good. The study and use of the Greek experience in organizing international food trade by domestic enterprises is very relevant for Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS". The overall decline in the growth rate of the company’s indicators in 2021 was due to the need for Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS" to overcome the effects of the pandemic on the company’s economy. From previous studies, we see that the company is already dependent on external sources of financing, as its equity is less than 50% of its assets. Given the current economic situation in the country, the company should increase the existing growth in revenue, profit and equity, increasing the growth rates of these indicators to avoid insolvency in the near future. Having analyzed the company’s financial statements, we can see that the cost of goods sold and other operating expenses are growing rapidly, so Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS" needs to work on reducing them. In addition, Ukrainian producers and exporters should consider possible product modifications in accordance with EU standards, regulatory requirements, and consumer preferences. This requires wider implementation of marketing elements, environmental safety, compliance with the principles of sustainable development, and content restrictions in compliance with information hygiene [3]. The markets have also proved the importance of digital technologies in running any business and described their capabilities. Based on the experience of Greece, for the further effective functioning of the enterprise, it is also necessary to investigate the feasibility of wider implementation of digital marketing. Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS" needs to promote its website using white and gray search engine optimization methods, develop email marketing, etc. Thus, by optimizing the costs of renting warehouses, transport logistics, purchasing equipment, implementing energy saving systems, paying for additional consulting services, developing marketing effective solutions, implementing appropriate measures and improving the company’s core business, Private Enterprise "West Ukrainian Trade Company "RIO-PLUS" will be able to achieve the target value of the strategic performance indicator - total profit, by reducing the cost of production by the same amount. The company will be able to achieve a number of goals, ensuring the promotion of its own brand, business growth, and easier access to foreign markets.
