Learning outcomes: The learning outcomes of this discipline detail such programmed learning outcomes: 1. knowledge of the thermodynamics of chemical processes and phase transformations, physico-chemical processes of polymer synthesis, rheology of polymer systems; 2. knowledge of modern methods for determining the composition and establishing the structure of polymers, monitoring the flow of physical and chemical processes in polymers; skill: 1. Аpply modern methods of analysis to establish the molecular structure and identification of synthesized compounds, the study of the kinetics and mechanism of chemical reactions; 2. Сhoose and apply the necessary method for studying the molecular weight and thermophysical properties of polymers; 3. Аpply knowledge about the laws of the relationship of the chemical structure with the physical and chemical properties of polymers.
Required prior and related subjects: physics; general chemistry; analytical chemistry; physical and colloidal chemistry; organic chemistry; physical chemistry of polymers.
Summary of the subject: Characteristic features and differences of high molecular weight compounds. Theoretical foundations of the main groups of physical and chemical research. Identification of polymer materials. Molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of polymers. Methods for determination of molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of polymers. The viscosity of polymer solutions and melts. The mechanism of the flow of polymers. The structure of the polymers. The supramolecular structure of polymers. Methods for studying the structure of polymers. Physical conditions of polymers. The effect of the molecular weight of the polymer on the pour point. The effect of polydispersity and polarity of polymers on the pour point. Determination of temperatures of physical transitions of polymers. Thermophysical properties of polymers. Research methods for thermophysical properties. Electrical properties of polymers. Determination of specific volume and specific surface electrical resistance. Determination of dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent. The mechanical properties of plastics. X-ray analysis of polymers. Thermogravimetric analysis of polymers.
