Мета вивчення дисципліни: The discipline “Urban Design” is one of the disciplines of professional training of students of the second (master's) level of higher education, specialty 022 “Design”. The purpose of teaching the discipline is to professionally prepare a student-designer for the synthesis of urban planning, architecture, landscape, plastic and fine arts in the organization of the subject-spatial environment of the city, when the subject content of urban space, the volume of environmental objects (buildings and structures) and their division, the dimensions of planning formations and the landscape plan are in harmony with each other and with a person. As a result of studying the discipline, the student should be able to demonstrate the following results: 1. Possess modern scientific methods of designing environmental objects. 2. Be able to enter and process text, graphic and multimedia information. 3. To know professional terminology. 4. Know the classification of design objects and the basic principles of designing design objects. 5. Have the skills of oral, written and visual presentation of results. Завдання: The study of the discipline involves the formation of competencies in students: INT. The ability to solve complex problems and problems in the field of design or in the learning process, which involves research and / or innovation and is characterized by uncertainty of conditions and requirements. General competencies (GC): GC1. Ability to generate new ideas (creativity). GC2. Ability to identify, pose and solve problems. GC6. Ability to act socially responsibly and consciously. Special (professional, subject) competencies of the specialty (CS): PCC 1.1 Ability to perform all stages of the design of the subject-spatial environment (pre-project analysis of the initial situation, a package of design and estimate documentation, calculation and graphic part, working drawings, visualization, layout, structural units, cooperation with collaborators during implementation, visual promotion of design products) based on the formed creative concept. PCC 1.2 Ability to design interior and equipment, including architectural details, furniture, monumental and small applied forms, decorative lighting elements, interior landscaping, at all stages of design and implementation, based on a clearly defined author's concept. PCS 1.4. Ability to design exhibition and exposition complexes (design of exhibitions and fairs, exhibition and exposition stands, collapsible modular elements, entrance groups of public facilities, shop windows, signboards), taking into account functional, technical, technological, environmental and aesthetic requirements. PCS 1.5. Ability to perform the duties of an art director, organize and manage the collective activities of designers, demonstrating to the consumer the attractive cultural value and economic value of the created creative product. PCC 1.6. Ability to work as a design manager: to organize productive work on a group project with the help of modern technical and software design tools, to carry out operations in the multimedia space
Learning outcomes: As a result of training, the student must be able to demonstrate the following program learning outcomes in the professional field: PLO1.1. To carry out pre-design research at a high level, to analyze analogues of design solutions and to be able to creatively use the results obtained in design. ELO1.2. Be able to use regulatory and reference literature in the design of interiors of residential and public buildings, as well as open public spaces. PLO1.3 To be an expert in the use of modern software and hardware, to use knowledge and skills of working with professional computer software. ELO1.4. Apply a comprehensive artistic and design approach based on a scientific basis to create a holistic image of the subject-spatial environment. PLO1.6. To create a design of the environment of subject-spatial complexes, buildings and structures and small architectural forms in the landscape, based on in-depth pre-design research and having a thorough knowledge of a variety of modern concepts in the field of landscape design and phytodesign. ELO1.8. Apply the acquired knowledge and understanding of the subject area and field of professional activity in practical situations when performing working drawings and accompanying technical documentation, as well as during the presentation of finished projects.

Summary of the subject: The course “Urban Environment Design” is designed for one semester of study and covers 120 hours and structurally includes two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the course deals with the main provisions related to the design of the urban environment. The practical part of the course analyzes and systematizes the research material, conducts pre-design analysis and executes a conceptual design project for the urban environment - its fragment and nodes. For the purpose of interconnection with the core disciplines, the student is invited to work out the methodology of analysis on related course projects. The discipline is consistently based on theoretical and practical provisions that reveal the basic laws of pre-design research in the urban environment and the synthesis of design products, the user of which is the city community. The study of the proposed course requires students to be creative, focuses on the independent search for strategies for performing analytical tasks, and requires them to study additional literature.
Опис: Lectures - 15 hours (full-time). The purpose of the lectures is to provide students with knowledge related to the process of research and design of the urban environment. Lecture 1: Types of urban space. Lecture 2. Functional and social component in the design of urban space. Lecture 3. Tasks of designing types of urban environment. Lecture 4. Design process: initial data and analysis, - design concept, - working draft. Lecture 5. Landscape design tools for urban areas. Lecture 6. Working design documentation. Lecture 7. City communications Consultations Practical classes: Practical 1. Preparation of design specifications for different types of urban space. Practical 2. Collection and systematization of initial data for design (1) topographic survey, scale and detail, detailed survey, 2) study of urban planning project documentation for this territory, 3) urban planning conditions and restrictions (Three parties: investor, designer and authorities (community management with an architect, an official who prepares the document “MB conditions and restrictions” (as a task from the authorities))) (from the Central Office, from transport management, from the Historical Environment, .... - this is the collection of initial data) Practical 3. Analysis of the territory in two parts - anthropogenic and natural (relief, water, greenery) components. Draw all planning restrictions. Practical 4. Project concept: functional solution of the territory Practical 5. Project concept: planning solution of the territory Practical 6. Project concept: spatial solution of the territory Practical 7. Working project (Drawings of the territory improvement: breakdown drawing, vertical planning by the method of design slopes, cross-section by territory and nodes, drawings of lighting elements, types of paving, inventory and planting drawing with assortment list). Practice 8: General data. Technical indicators of the project (table) (areas, number and types of elements). Explanatory note.
Assessment methods and criteria: During the semester, a student can score 40 points for completing four assignments and 60 points at the final control for passing test questions in the VNS of Lviv Polytechnic. The sum of the grades received by the student for these types of academic work is the final semester grade.
