Learning outcomes: • ability to demonstrate profound knowledge of modern scientific methods of linguistic research within the areas of communication and cognitive linguistics; • ability to perceive effectively, store, process and convey language information; to predict the peculiaritites of information perception and prevent communication failures; • ability to model monological, dialogic and polilogic communicative acts taking into consideration cultural peculiarities of the community the language of which is spoken; • ability to diagnose oral and written speech, conduct linguistic expertise of written texts and speech.

Summary of the subject: Discourse analysis in the anthropocentric paradigm of modern linguistics. The problem of the object of Discourse Studies: history of changes and differences in interpretation. Schools of discourse analysis. Interactive determination of discourse. Characteristics of the components of discourse. Discourse typology as a debatable issue. Text-discursive categories: cohesion, coherence, intentionality, information, situationality, acceptability, intertextuality. Discourse as semiosis. Discourse and speech genres. Modeling discourse. Cognitive Map of discourse. Methods of text analysis and discourse analysis. Discourse analysis. Discourse as an “alternative world in the world of the language”.
Assessment methods and criteria: - Current control (30%): writing an essay and its defence; - Final evaluation (70% ): credit
