Learning outcomes: 1. RN 01. Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of conceptual, methodological and technological principles of developing quality software systems. 2. PH 02. Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of management theory methods and optimal decision-making on software engineering processes. 3. RN 04. Apply modern tools and technologies for information retrieval, processing and analysis, in particular, statistical methods of analysis of large data and / or complex structure, specialized databases and information systems. 4. RN 05. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the philosophical methodology of scientific knowledge, psychological and pedagogical aspects of professional and scientific activities, their own scientific worldview and moral and cultural values. 5. RN 06. Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of English, necessary for oral and written presentation of research results, professional scientific dialogue, full understanding of English scientific texts. 6. PH 09. Analyze and select relevant models for the design and implementation of intelligent systems for various purposes. 7. RN 10. Conduct research and carry out research projects on the basis of identification of current scientific problems, definition of goals and objectives, formation and critical analysis of the information base, substantiation and commercialization of research results, formulation of author's conclusions and proposals. 8. RN 11. To be able to formulate from new research positions the general methodological basis of own scientific research, to define its urgency, the purpose and value for development of other branches of science, social and political, economic life. 9. RN 12. To be able to prepare a request for funding, to develop a feasibility study of the project, to develop reporting documentation.

Summary of the subject: Features of the organization of research work in the conditions of integration into the world scientific space. Scientific discussion on modern scientific research in the field of software engineering, forms, methods, ethical features in the process of scientific research. Methodological bases of scientific knowledge and acquisition of new knowledge. Scientific discussion on the understanding of graduate students of the essence of the systems approach in research. Problems of scientific research and stages of research work. Scientific discussion on the topic, problem, object and subject of research formulated by graduate students, formulation of a scientific hypothesis. Information support of scientific research in modern conditions. Scientific seminar on ways to find the necessary scientific information and its processing. General and special methods of scientific research in software engineering. Scientific seminars on the application of modern methods in research in software engineering. Registration of research results: publication of scientific works, language and style of scientific works. Approbation and implementation of research results in practical and educational work.
Assessment methods and criteria: Active participation of the graduate student in the discussion of issues at seminars and discussions (4 * 10 = 40 points) Evaluation of prepared presentations and presentation (3 * 10 = 30 points) Testing in the ANS in the process of conducting practical classes. (30 points)
