Learning outcomes: - knowledge of methods and techniques of modern biotechnology, basics of technology of microbiological production, principles of in vitro cultivation of cells, tissues and organs of plants, modern biotechnological processes and methods of production of new drugs and medicines; - knowledge of polymers and polymeric carriers methods of synthesis and analysis; - knowledge of methods and techniques of nanostructures application as components of drugs, of targeted drug delivery systems creation.
Required prior and related subjects: prerequisites: Industrial technology of pharmaceutical industries, Part 1. Scientific aspects of the ecology of chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Scientific aspects of veterinary and biomedical drugs. Modeling and design of chemical and pharmaceutical enterprises in the GMP system. Economics of chemical and pharmaceutical enterprises. co-requisites: Industrial technology of pharmaceutical production, Part 2. Quality control of medicines. Industrial equipment of chemical and pharmaceutical enterprises. Technology and application of medical cosmetics.
Summary of the subject: Cellular Biotechnology of medicinal raw materials and the selection of drugs. Using cultures of isolated cells and tissues to produce biologically active substances. Method of cultivation. Callus culture. Deep cultivation of plant cells in a liquid nutrient medium. The cultivation of individual cells. Isolated protoplasts. Microclonal reproduction. Polymers as excipients and drugs. Bioactive and bioinert polymers biodegradation and the biodegradation of polymers, methods of preparation. Excipient and active ingredient of the medicinal product. Polymers with its own biological activity and polymers media. Therapeutic targeted delivery system, prolonged and controlled release. Nano- structures, objects, materials and technologies, nanopharmacology. Nanoscale systems deliver drugs.
Assessment methods and criteria: • current control - 40 points (written reports on laboratory work, oral examination - 20, individual tasks - 20): • final control - credit, written-oral form - 60 points (written test, final control)
