Learning outcomes: The student must know about substances that pollute the hydrosphere and atmosphere, about the damage they can cause to human health, flora and fauna; methods of wastewater treatment and capture of gaseous and dispersed emissions; basics of selection and calculation of treatment equipment. The student must perform engineering calculations to protect the hydrosphere and air from pollutants; make decisions on prevention and elimination of negative consequences of the impact of man-made objects on the atmosphere and the environment.
Required prior and related subjects: Climate change adaptation technologies, Sustainable development strategies.
Summary of the subject: Mechanical treatment and physicochemical methods of industrial wastewater treatment. Chemical and electrochemical methods of wastewater treatment. Regenerative and destructive methods of wastewater treatment from dissolved organic impurities. The main methods of gas purification. Cleaning and vapor emissions of gaseous pollutants. Problems and ways to improve the environmental performance of road transport.
Assessment methods and criteria: - The current control (30%) are workshops, oral interviews and test; - The final control (70%) is an exam.
