Learning outcomes: • knowledge of the major development trends and major developments in automated aviation electric drives; • ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of physical processes, methods of analysis and synthesis of automated aviation drives; • ability to put into practice the knowledge of aircraft electric power and obtain research skills; • ability to solve the tasks of an electric drive and make appropriate decisions.

Summary of the subject: The concept of aircraft drive mechanisms. Classification of Aircraft Operating Units and Actuators. The concept of airplane drive. Classification of aircraft operating units and actuators. Structure of aircraft electric drive mechanisms. Classification of electric drives. Electric drive mechanics. Static characteristics of actuators and motors. Operation modes of electric motors. Speed control of electric drives. Transient modes in electric drive. Choice of electric motors. Basics of automatic control of electric drives. Closed automatic control systems.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on laboratory works, oral questioning (25%); • control work (10%); • final control (65%).
