Learning outcomes: PRN 13. To be able to identify and distinguish objects of the railway track and structures, their systems and elements. PRN 14. To organize a measuring experiment on railway infrastructure objects and to evaluate its results. PRN 15. Develop and implement technological processes, technological equipment and technological equipment, means of automation and mechanization during the construction, operation, repair and maintenance of railway track objects and structures, their systems and elements. PRN 16. Develop, design and implement in production documentation regarding the certainty of technological processes of construction, operation, repair and maintenance of railway track objects and structures, their systems and other instructions, rules and methods. PRN 17. Develop technical tasks and technical conditions for the design of railway track objects and structures, their systems and individual elements; draw up plans for the placement of equipment, technical equipment and organization of workplaces, calculate the loading of mechanisms and indicators of product quality. PRN 21. Know the methods and be able to use technical measurement tools, technical regulations, standards and other regulatory documents during the technical diagnosis of railway infrastructure objects, its systems and elements.

Summary of the subject: The course plans to study the following topics: 1. Introduction. Coordinate systems and direction orientation. Plans, maps, digital terrain models. Basic geodetic problems. Reference geodetic networks. The principle of measuring horizontal angles. 2. Classification of theodolites. Construction of T30 theodolite. Checks of the theodolite T30. Measurement of horizontal angles, methods. The vertical circle of the T30 theodolite, the zero point of the vertical circle. 3. Measurement of line lengths. Surveying the area, types, their characteristics. Theodolite surveying, composition of field work, surveying of the situation. Processing of theodolite survey results. Tacheometric surveying of the terrain, basic principles, survey justification, work at the station, surveying of rail points, processing of measurement results. 4. Leveling, methods, their characteristics; trigonometric leveling; methods of geometric leveling. Elements of mathematical processing of measurement results. Classification of levelers, structure of leveler H-3, checks. 5. Concepts of the railway route, angular and linear measurements, picketage. Breakdown of rounding, circular and transition curves, picketage calculation. 6. Geometric leveling, processing of leveling results. Geodetic layout work during the construction of structures, accuracy, construction of the design horizontal angle. Transfer of the design mark to the installation horizon.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control (PC) – 40 points. Credit control: written component - 50 points; oral component - 10 points.
