Learning outcomes: LO 9 Apply international and national standards and practices in professional activities. LO 11 Know the main historical stages of development of the subject area and be able to operate with basic categories and concepts of the specialty. LO 13 To be able to identify and distinguish railway track objects and structures, their systems and elements. LO 14 To organize the measurement experiment on the objects of the railway infrastructure and to evaluate its results. LO 16 Develop, draw up and introduce into production documentation regarding the certainty of technological processes of construction, operation, repair and maintenance of railway track objects and structures, their systems and other instructions, rules and methods.
Required prior and related subjects: Previous and related academic disciplines: Engineering geology. Engineering and computer graphics. Railway design. Part 1.
Summary of the subject: The main task of the discipline is to acquaint students with the application of the laws of hydrostatics and hydrodynamics in the process of designing and operating railway structures, structures and equipment. When studying the discipline, the main concepts and laws of equilibrium and fluid movement, the effect of water on railway track structures, and fluid pressure on the surface of various building structures are considered. Hydraulic calculation of simple and complex pipelines is performed. The principle of operation and technical characteristics of hydraulic machines are considered. List of lecture topics: The influence of water on railway track structures, general properties and characteristics of liquids. General equations of hydrostatics. Liquid equilibrium under the influence of gravity. Fluid pressure forces on flat and curved surfaces. Fluid continuity equation. Bernoulli's equation. Hydraulic resistances and energy (pressure) losses during fluid movement. Distribution of velocities and tangential stresses along the cross-section of a round pipe. Hydraulic calculation of simple and complex pipelines. Flow of liquid through the hole at constant and variable pressure. Leakage of liquid through nozzles. Hydraulic machines. Piston and centrifugal pumps.
Assessment methods and criteria: Students' knowledge is assessed using the following methods: 1. Protection of reports for laboratory works by conducting an oral survey on the subject of the work. 2. Performance of control work. 3. Completion of the assessment based on the results of studying the discipline, which consists of three-level theoretical and practical tasks. 4. Conducting the oral component based on the results of the written test, the questions of which are based on the content of lectures and laboratory works. Current control (СC) and performance of control work - 50 points. Credit control: written component - 40 points, oral component - 10 points.
