Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of the course is to master the methods of designing, debugging, testing, implementing and maintaining the core of operating systems, utilities and drivers.
Завдання: The ability to solve complex specialized problems and practical ones problems during professional activity in the field of information technologies or in the learning process that involves application theories and methods of computer engineering and are characterized complexity and uncertainty of conditions. ZK2. Ability to abstract thinking, analysis and synthesis. ZK4. Ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources. ZK7. Ability to make informed decisions. SK1. Ability to determine technical characteristics, design features, application and operation software, software and technical means, computer systems and networks of various purposes. SK2. Ability to develop algorithmic and software provision, components of computer systems and networks, Internet of applications, cyber-physical systems using modern methods and programming languages, as well as tools and systems design automation. SK5. Ability to build architecture and create system and application software of computer systems and networks
Learning outcomes: PH1. Apply general knowledge approaches, methods mathematics, natural and engineering sciences to the solution complex problems of computer engineering. PH4. Apply specialized conceptual knowledge that include modern scientific achievements in the field of computer science engineering, necessary for professional activity, original thinking and conducting research, critical thinking problems of information technologies and on the border of fields of knowledge. PH6. Analyze the problem, identify and formulate select specific problems that need to be solved effective methods of solving them. PH8. Apply knowledge of technical characteristics, design features, purpose and rules of operation software and technical means of computer systems and networks for solving complex problems of computer engineering and related problems problems

Summary of the subject: The discipline is aimed at forming students' thorough and systematic knowledge of the principles of designing operating systems, utilities and drivers. During the course of laboratory work and coursework in this discipline, the student gains practical skills in analyzing the individual technical task and making design decisions regarding the construction of an operating system, utility or driver.
Опис: Type, structures and tasks of operational systems. Process management, process schedulers, synchronization. Memory management, virtual memory. File system interface and implementation. Input/output system. Network support and, network OS. OS protection and security. UINX/Linux OS. Driver design. Utilities design.
Assessment methods and criteria: Assessment is based on the results of lectures and semester tests in the virtual learning environment of the university, as well as on the results of laboratory works.

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
