Summary of the subject: Introduction to computer aided design. Design concept. Principles of a systematic approach. Design stages. Models and their parameters in CAD. Design procedures. Optimal and rational design. CAD in the field of mechanical engineering. CAD, CAE, CAM systems. Evaluation criteria for technical solutions. Multicriteria analysis of systems. Features and modules of AutoCad Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor Professional. Basic principles of modeling. Libraries of structural elements and standard products. AutoCad Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor Professional application modules. CAD software. Finite element method (FEM) for frequency, static, thermal analysis, stability, optimization and the like. Motion and dynamics analysis. Motion-type modules.
Assessment methods and criteria: • E-reports of laboratory works, questioning (30%). • Summary control (exam): writting and questioning (70%).

Learning outcomes: • To know: bases of computational methods of analysis of mathematical models of technical systems, methods and means of mathematical modeling of technical systems, methods and basic hardware of computational methods of mathematical packages. • Be able to: form and solve mathematical problems that accompany engineering calculations; compile mathematical models for the analysis of technical systems; simulate, define and analyze stressed-deformed states of elements of technical systems and machines in conditions of static and dynamic loads.

Summary of the subject: Basic concepts and essence of computer modeling. Classification of equations and systems of equations and methods for their solution. Methods of solving nonlinear equations. Solving nonlinear equations with MathCAD. Solving differential equations with MathCAD. Optimization in engineering calculations.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Current control (50%, practical classes and control work protection). • Final control (50%, credit).
