Завдання: General competences:
acquiring declarative knowledge and skills, the competence of existence and aptitude for studing; self-assessment and self-evaluation skills and aptitude for selfstudy which may help students take up lifelong learning even after graduating from the University.
Professional competences:
acquiring professional communicative speech competences (linguistic, socio-linguistic, pragmatic) to communicate in aademic and professional environment.
Learning outcomes: Learning outcomes:
By the end of the study learners are expected to be able to:
• use different language skills: speaking, reading, listening and writing according to the future profession;
• maintain a conversation on familiar study and specialism-related topics, expressing and exchanging opinions and factual information on study and job - related events;
• read original literature in the specialty to obtain scientific and technical information;
• demonstrate understanding of clear and simple notices, including details on warning, announcements and instructions in academic and job-related events;
• make arrangements on the telephone in academic or professional environment, including getting connected, leaving and taking messages, provided the interlocutor’s speech is clearly articulated in a generally familiar accent;
• write e-mails for educational purposes conveying simple straightforward information of immediate relevance /close to academic environment and everyday life;
• fill in correctly application and registration forms for accommodation and / or for a conference with an appropriate degree of accuracy and adequacy
LR1 accomodate to new circumstances, make independent decisions and initiate original research-innovative complex projects
LR2 realize the necessity of lifelong learning with the purpose of acquiring new professional knowledge and skills.

Summary of the subject: The curriculum for the descipline "English for Specific Purposes" is destined for the 2nd stage of higher education due to educational-scientific program for obtaining the degree of Master for those learners who have B2 level in a foreign language (according to the general European recommendations on learning and teaching modern foreign languages).
At the end of the course, students are supposed to have В2+ level in a foreign language which is considered to be an intermediary stage between intermediate and advanced lavel of knowledge of a language.
The course is practically oriented which allows learners acquiring professional communicative competence. The course is rendered through integration of language knowledge and skills in general and specific situations that may occur in professional and academic environment. Special attention is paid to individual activity of a student.

My specialty. Elaboration of additional technical literature. Styles of scientific and technical literature. Elaboration of additional technical literature. Terminology, shortenings.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control and differential credit.

- presentations during practical classes;

- evaluation of proposals, original decisions, suggestions, etc.

Listening – Full understanding of audio materials; the student demonstrates independence and the ability to adequately perceive information and the ability to reproduce, translate, remember this material, and complete accompanying oral or written tasks.
Reading - the student demonstrates knowledge of a significant part of the material read; facts are used correctly, terminological correctness is present, small inaccuracies are possible; the student demonstrates understanding of the text, independent and critical thinking, ability to analyze, argue his position, logically and consistently present the material. The student understands and can explain in a foreign language the meaning of most words in the text, knows their translation, can use an active dictionary when discussing the information read.
Speech - the student demonstrates the ability to express himself on the chosen topic, using appropriate lexical and grammatical constructions, communicate freely and prove his point of view using linguistic means, engage in thematic discussions.
Writing - the student has a sufficient level of knowledge of grammar and has a sufficient lexical base to correctly express his opinion in writing. Logic, brevity, correctness of the presentation are important in accordance with the requirements for writing one or another type of written work (essay, letter, extended abstract, etc.).
** Evaluation criteria for oral speech (presentation)
The presentation is prepared in accordance with the proposed topic and according to the plan developed independently by the student, in compliance with the technical requirements for presentation design. Demonstrates deep and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the material, information is presented clearly, comprehensively using an analytical approach and additional factual and conceptual material to the chosen topic;
The report is complete, comprehensive, with a comprehensive coverage of the issues proposed in the plan, comprehensive, clear, logical, well-argued, with a consistent presentation of the content, one's own vision of solving the problem.
1) Monitoring: listening, monologue and dialogic speaking, reading, writing. Final test.
2) Final assessment: differentiated credit.

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions.
