Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of studying the discipline "Analytical and Numerical Research Methods in Mechanical Engineering" is to master the methods and techniques of forming a knowledge base and skills on the state and problems of formalizing and solving scientific problems in applied mechanics, planning an experiment, functioning of components and system elements of experimental research schemes, consideration of analytical methods and means of analyzing the reliability of results, statistical processing (correlation and regression analysis) of results.
Завдання: The study of the discipline involves the formation and development of the following competencies in graduate students: General: 1. Ability to solve complex scientific and applied problems and make decisions on the use of results in the practical activities of enterprises / institutions in the field of mechanical engineering, or in the educational processes of universities and research programs of research institutes, which involves the application of theories and methods of applied mechanics and is characterized by complexity and uncertainty (INT). 2. Ability to form a systematic scientific outlook, professional ethics and general cultural outlook. Ability to initiate and carry out (individually or in a research group) scientific research that leads to new knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering of such quality that meets the requirements of reviewers at the national and international levels. Ability to search and analyze information from various scientific domestic and foreign sources. Ability to effectively use in scientific practice various theories in the field of scientific and applied research in the specialty "Applied Mechanics". Ability to solve scientific and applied problems and make appropriate informed decisions, to formulate new scientific ideas and current problems in the field of mechanical engineering, to choose appropriate directions and appropriate methods for their implementation, taking into account available resources. Ability to use information technology and computer programs in the field of mechanical engineering Professional: 1. Acquisition of in-depth knowledge in the field of applied mechanics, including mastering the basic concepts of mechanical engineering development, understanding the theoretical and practical problems facing modern mechanical engineering, the history of development and the current state of scientific research in this field. Ability to perform original research in the field of mechanical engineering and achieve scientific results that create new knowledge, paying special attention to current tasks/problems and using the latest scientific methods. Possess knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering and basic sciences necessary for the development of disciplines that provide knowledge in the chosen specialty and disciplines of free choice of the graduate student; 2. Ability to analyze the data of theoretical and experimental research in the field of applied mechanics, which may be large and require the use of powerful computing resources. Learning outcomes: The learning outcomes of this discipline detail the following program learning outcomes: 1. Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering, dynamics and strength of machines, engineering technology, welding and diagnostics of metal structures, which will allow to critically analyze the situation in the field of mechanical engineering 2. Apply knowledge and understanding to solve problems of synthesis and analysis of elements and systems characteristic of the chosen field of research ; 3. Investigate and model phenomena and processes in complex mechanical systems ; 4. Argue the choice of methods for solving a scientific and applied problem, critically evaluate the results obtained and defend the decisions made ; 5. Critically evaluate the results of research and reasonably make and defend appropriate decisions

Summary of the subject: The subject of study of the discipline is the formation of postgraduate students' ideas about the state and problems of setting up an experiment, the functioning of components and system elements of experimental schemes and the correct design of design and planning documentation for the research program, consideration of methods and means of ensuring the reliability of results, statistical processing of results in accordance with current programs and other regulatory documents. To acquire the basic knowledge necessary for the qualified organization and implementation of measures and means to ensure the proper design of the experiment and high-quality statistical analysis of the results of theoretical and experimental research in mechanical engineering.
Опис: BASIC CONCEPTS, METHODOLOGY OF ANALYTICAL AND NUMERICAL RESEARCH METHODS IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING Concepts, tasks, methodology of science. Criteria of scientificity in mechanical engineering. Methods of modern scientific and theoretical thinking and formalization of calculation procedures. Object of scientific research. Fundamental and applied research in mechanical engineering. Stages and ways of mathematical modeling of processes and systems in mechanical engineering. Formulation of the scientific problem of analytical and numerical research methods in mechanical engineering. PLANNING OF THE EXPERIMENT General provisions of the theory of experiment planning. The purpose and basic principles of experiment planning. Mathematical apparatus of experiment planning. Factor space. Factors and levels and their selection. Responses and their selection. Plan and mathematical model of the experiment. Decomposition of the response function into a step series. Coding of factors. Orthogonal planning of the experiment. Plans for a full 2n factorial experiment. Plans of a fractional factorial experiment. Saturated plans of the first order. Plans of the second order. Second-order plans with a single planning area. BASIC METHODS OF STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS OF THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING Classification and types of errors. Direct and indirect measurements. Random measurements and errors. The concept of probability of a random variable. Gaussian distribution for an infinite number of random measurements. Root mean square error. Confidence probability. The law of addition of random errors. Arithmetic mean and true value of the measured value. Student's distribution. Detection of errors. Joint accounting of systematic, random errors and several random variables. Processing of measurements. The number of digits when calculating errors. Accuracy of calculations. The process of processing calculations. Basic concepts and categories of applied statistics. Methods of summarizing, grouping and displaying statistical data. Criteria for assessing the similarity (or difference) of two statistical samples: Fisher's F-test (comparison of variances), Student's test, Kolmogorov's test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov's test. Factor analysis. Correlation analysis. Regression analysis.
Assessment methods and criteria: 1. Survey and control of practical work 2. Written and oral components of the exam 3. Control measures (CM) are conducted in writing. 4. The student passes the exam in front of the commission orally with the fixation of questions and assessment of answers on the examination sheet
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Current control: 1. Assessment of mastering the theoretical material is carried out by means of test control (test tasks from the Electronic Educational and Methodological Complex of the Virtual Learning Environment of Lviv Polytechnic National University, discipline, oral questioning). 2. Defense of reports for practical work in oral form by questioning theoretical material on the topic of work and research methods or in writing by conducting a control measure on the topic of work in the form of a test. Final control: 1. Examination control (exam). The written component consists of three-level theoretical and practical tasks and is conducted in a test form in the Virtual Learning Environment. The oral component is based on the results of the written component for a more thorough assessment of knowledge
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
