Summary of the subject: The course "Multimedia Design" is designed for one semester of study (120 hours) and includes theoretical and practical parts, as well as independent work. The theoretical part of the course includes materials that highlight the key principles of multimedia design in the context of problems and objectives of communicative design and design of subject-spatial environment, the theory of interactive information space based on images, texts and infographic data, sound, video and visual effects. Today, multimedia technologies form a promising and popular direction of communicative design, based on the simultaneous use of different means of presenting information. The course involves the study of a set of techniques, methods and ways of collecting, accumulating, processing, storing, transmitting and producing audiovisual, textual, graphical information in the interactive interaction of the user with the information system. The practical part of the course sets out the methods and approaches to the use of graphic and typographic culture and computer technology in design; identification of functional features of the visual-sound series and methods of their presentation; finding an idea, forming a project proposal, working on a multimedia design object. Examples of multimedia presentations, applications, websites, games and other products that present information through a combination of different presentation tools, technology and figurative language are considered. The programs needed to work with text, video, images and sound are studied. The course helps to understand the role of graphic design in the technological level of creation of multimedia design objects, to determine the stages of work; to realize the synthesis of artistic and project creativity.
Assessment methods and criteria: During the semester, a student can score up to 40 points (15 points - current control, 25 - for individual research tasks). On the test - a maximum of 60 points. To be admitted to the test, the student must score at least 25 points based on the results of the current control. The semester grade is formed from the sum of points scored.
