Learning outcomes: • knowledge of purpose, function and properties of distributed systems for collecting, processing and control in electric power systems; • knowledge of principles of construction of modern automated process control systems using SCADA systems; • understanding algorithms of functioning systems of data collection and management; • ability to apply the tools of SCADA-systems; • ability to design and setup automated control systems.
Required prior and related subjects: • Programming in Microsoft Visual Studio Environment.
Summary of the subject: Information technology and systems. Technical means of information gathering and control. Digital signal processing. Automated control systems (ACS). SCADA-systems: basic concepts and definitions; functions and architecture; organization of information exchange; display of operational information and remote control; top level software; development tools for SCADA-systems. Automated dispatch system MicroSCADA from company ABB. Information and control systems (ICS) for substations.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on laboratory and computational works, oral questioning (30%) • final control - exam: written and oral form (70%)
