Summary of the subject: Rhetoric is the science of persuasion through words, the art of speaking. This competency is related to both speaking and texting. Oratory and rhetoric have always occupied a significant place in classical scientific traditions. Their formation coincides with periods of the greatest flowering of culture. Rhetoric is an interdisciplinary science, it has traditional connections with philosophy, communication theory, ethics, logic, politics, psychology, jurisprudence, and stylistics. Classical rhetoric stated the need for professional work, which should not be separated from scientific truth and ethics; "successful improvisation is possible only thanks to deep knowledge and rich experience. The speech should be made not in order to impress, but in order to achieve understanding. Rhetorical knowledge is actualized by modern circumstances in a post-industrial society, for which information is the most important resource, in which new information technologies appear, new scientific thinking is formed, and a new philosophy of communication is maturing. Discourse, narrative, speech and the processes of their perception are analyzed in modern rhetoric, which evolves thanks to the development of humanitarian studies and the theory of mass communication in modern culture. The availability of future scientists with practical knowledge in the field of preparation, writing and the technique of delivering speeches will ensure greater effectiveness of their activities, which will be associated with the achievement of personal and socially significant goals in the scientific field. The ability to appeal to consciousness and the emotional sphere of verbal and non-verbal communication will be the key to the implementation of the strategy of socio-cultural success. Based on observations and analysis, create a "portrait of the audience"; ? analyze and choose a professional genre that corresponds to a specific situation and create an effective speech composition; ? conduct an extended monologue, an effective conversation on professional issues; ? solve communicative tasks in a specific situation; ? logically correct, accurate, ethical and emotional expression of thoughts in accordance with the content, communication conditions and addressee, striving to create an individual style; ? to master polemical art (dispute, polemic, discussion); ? systematically analyze the entire communicative process (reflection).
