Learning outcomes: • knowledge of the basic principles of the organization and operative control of nuclear power plant (NPP) exploitation; • knowledge of the structure and functions of the automated control system of the NPP power unit, principles of organization of the main and backup control boards of the NPP; • ability to analyze the work of the NPP power unit and make decisions on the operative control of the power unit in different operating modes; • ability to operate the main technological units and systems of the NPP; • to understand the purpose, functions and composition of systems important for the safety of NPP with the WWER-1000 reactor and to carry out effective operative control of these systems.

Summary of the subject: Basic principles of organization and operative control of NPP exploitation. Operative-dispatching control of the NPP. Typical organizational structure for operating the NPP exploitation. Functions and tasks of the system for operating the NPP exploitation. Structure and functions of the automated control system of the NPP power unit. Principles of organization of control panels of NPP. Operative control of the NPP power unit in different operating modes. Operative control of the main technological units and systems of the NPP. Systems important for the safety of the NPP with WWER-1000 reactor. The tasks of operative control in different operating modes of these systems. Reactor control and protection system. Hydro-tank system. Emergency system of boron injection at high pressure. System of pressure compensation for the first circuit. System of emergency gas removal from the first contour. Boron concentrate system. System of emergency feeding water. System of devices of vapour removal.
Assessment methods and criteria: • oral questioning, written essay, presentation, laboratory practice (30%) • final control (control measure - exam): written and oral form (70%)
