Мета вивчення дисципліни: To develop in students the skills of independent identification and consideration of worldview problems of life, methodological problems of cognition and activity with the involvement of the conceptual apparatus of philosophy; to awaken students' interest in spiritual searches and broadening the horizon of personal worldview. One of the main tasks of the course is to clarify the reasons for the increase in the importance of humanitarian knowledge under the conditions of the complication of interpersonal relations in modern society.
Завдання: Studies Outcomes: The goals of study: the goals of the study this module is to acquaint students with ideas and original texts of famous representatives of philosophy; to orient the students regarding actual problems of contemporary philosophy; to teach students how to use philosophical analysis in order to resolve the problem of a human being and science; to demonstrate the deep similarity between philosophy, science and arts. As a result of studying the students must know: - Social and historical meaning of philosophy and particularities of world-view knowledge. - The main periods of philosophy’s development, the time and the conditions of emergences of different philosophical paradigms. - The main ideas of the famous philosophers and its values for European civilization. - The main problems of philosophy and its vital significance. - The meaning of basic philosophical terminology. Be able: - To correlate and analyze advantages and mistakes of main philosophical point of views. - To compare scientific and philosophical vision of certain problems. - To analyze well-known collected fragments of philosophical books. - To analyze the problems of life using the philosophical categories and concepts. - To formulate and articulate own philosophical position concerning world-view issues.
Learning outcomes: PH1: Ability to adapt to new conditions, make decisions independently and initiate original research and innovation complex projects); the ability to formulate one's own worldview from general philosophical concepts. RN2: The ability to act consciously and socially responsibly, to be guided in one's activities by the principles of tolerance, openness, cooperation, creative dialogue and mutual respect for others. RN3: Ability to creative, critical, logical and consistent thinking using various philosophical theories, concepts and ideas (of foreign and domestic thinkers and schools) in the process of solving social and professional tasks. RN4: The ability to independently analyze worldview, socially and personally important problems, to make decisions on the basis of a formed system of value orientations and attitudes. RN5: Ability to present the results of independent work in the form of reports, messages, essays, presentations, summaries. RN6: Ability to use historical and philosophical argumentation in discussions, learned both on the samples of classical scientific works and perceived from modern information resources; carry out primary analysis and selection of materials on the topic of discussion acquired in modern social networks.

Summary of the subject: The "Philosophy" course is a basic regulatory discipline for most majors of Lviv Polytechnic University. It is of leading importance in the structural and logical scheme of the educational and professional program of training specialists of various fields and specialties. The content, teaching methods, independent work, forms of intermediate and final control should ensure the effective performance of the tasks of forming students' understanding of the prerequisites and specifics of the existence of a philosophical paradigm, students' awareness of the place of philosophy in human culture and their lives in particular. The content of the program is aimed at the study of the history of philosophical searches and finding the ultimate landmarks of human existence, the gradual historical formation of the culture of human thinking, the forms and levels of human cognitive activity, an in-depth understanding of existence, history and culture, fundamental dimensions and values of human existence. The program is aimed at ensuring the academic training of students.
