Qualification requirements and regulations, including graduation requirements: Attestation is carried out in the form of public defense of qualification work. The qualification work should involve the solution of a specialized task or a practical problem in the field of industrial and civil construction. There should be no falsification, or academic plagiarism in the qualification work. The qualification work must be posted on the official website or in the repository of the Lviv Polytechnic National University. Publication of qualification works containing information with limited access is carried out in accordance with the requirements of current legislation.
Characteristics of the educational program: The educational and professional program is based on modern engineering and technical developments and the results of scientific research in the field of construction and architecture and emphasizes the competences in creating objects of industrial and civil construction, taking into account economic and technological factors, typical and modern materials, structures and energy-saving technologies, both in normal and difficult engineering and geological conditions. The main focus is on deepening theoretical skills and practical training that allows solving complex engineering and technical problems in the field of designing and creating industrial and civil construction objects, engineering structures. The program takes into account the requirements of the market for the professional training of graduates and provides for a combination of theoretical knowledge, research information and practical skills of the applicants. Academic mobility for educational programs and internship programs in European countries is possible. Some courses can be taught in English.
Gained competence: - specialized conceptual knowledge that includes current scientific achievements in the field of professional activity or field of knowledge and is the basis for original thinking and conducting research; - critical understanding of problems in the field of construction and civil engineering; - apply the acquired knowledge and understanding to identify, formulate and solve problems during design, construction and operation of industrial and civil buildings and structures; - know and apply appropriate engineering and technical solutions when designing complex and responsible industrial and civil construction objects; - combine theory and practice, as well as make decisions to achieve set goals, applying the methodological tools of knowledge in the field of design and construction of industrial and civil buildings; - search for information in various sources, perform the necessary research and apply research skills when solving the problems of designing and building industrial and civil buildings. - systematically think and apply creative abilities to the formation of fundamentally new constructive and technological solutions in the design and implementation of industrial and civil buildings - know and propose design measures to ensure compliance of buildings with requirements regarding their seismic resistance; - collect the necessary information using scientific and technical literature, databases and other sources, analyze and evaluate it; - communicate freely in national and foreign languages orally and in writing to discuss professional problems and results of activities in the field of architecture and construction. - apply modern mathematical and numerical methods for structural analysis and optimization of design parameters of industrial and civil buildings and structures.
- specialized problem-solving skills required to conduct research and/or conduct innovative activities to develop new knowledge and procedures; - ability to integrate knowledge and solve complex problems in broad or multidisciplinary contexts; - ability to solve problems in new or unfamiliar environments in the presence of incomplete or limited information, taking into account aspects of social and ethical responsibility; - design common industrial and civil buildings and structures, including usage of computer design software systems; - make effective design and technical decisions, taking into account the features of the construction object, aspects of social and ethical responsibility, technical and economic justification, determination of the optimal mode of its operation and implementation of resource and energy saving measures; - carry out technical examination of projects of construction and civil engineering objects (in accordance with specialization), controlling the compliance of projects and technical documentation with design tasks, technical conditions and other current regulatory and legal documents in the field of architecture and construction; - ensure quality in the execution of civil engineering objects; - develop labor and environmental protection measures during research and production activities; - select modern materials, technologies and methods of construction works, taking into account the architectural and constructive part of the project and the production base of the construction organization; - ability to carry out commercial and economic activities of intellectual property protection in the field of architecture and construction; - manage complex, unpredictable construction processes that require new strategic approaches.
