Major: Industrial and Civil Construction
Code of subject: 7.192.01.M.023
Credits: 5.00
Department: Building Constructions and Bridges
Lecturer: Assistant, Ph.D. Tytarenko Roman Yuriyovych.
Semester: 2 семестр
Mode of study: денна
Learning outcomes: 1. Students need to know: - the purpose and tasks of technical expertise and certification of buildings and structures; - the procedure for conducting and requirements for technical examination and certification; - test methods of structures; - the functions of the surveillance service; - method of estimation of demolition of buildings and structures. 2. Students should be able to: - to evaluate the technical condition of structures of buildings and structures; - to analyze defects; - to draw up a report on the results of technical expertise; - to prepare a passport of the technical condition of the building (structures); - perform the functions of a specialist (engineer) of the surveillance service; - determine the demolition of structures, buildings and structures.
Required prior and related subjects: 1. Timber structures. 2. Steel structures. 3. Reinforced concrete and masonry structures design. 4. Bases and foundations. 5. Engineering geology and basics of soil mechanics.
Summary of the subject: 1. Introduction: curent state of the problem; main standart ISO 13822; foreseen development of standards for existing structures. 2. Procedures for the assessment of existing structures: assessment procedure; preliminary assessment; detailed assessment. 3. Nondestructive testing (NDT): requirement to the personnel; requirement to the execution; differents types of the nondestructive testing. 4. Masonry structures – structural investigation and assessment: the aim of investigation; simple investigative techniques; more sophisticated, non-destructive methods for mansory structures. 5. Concrete and reinforcement concrete (RC) structures – structural investigation and assessment: condition assessment of buildings for repair and seismic upgrading; methodology of condition assessment; methodology of detailed investigations; partially destructive tests for concrete and RC structures; corrosion of steel in concrete; concrete degradation in RC structures; RC structural damage; identification of defects, damage and decay mechanisms. 6. Steel structures – structural investigation and assessment: fatigue assessment procedure; design life of the steel structures; environmental considerations; features influencing fatigue behavior; classification of details; unclassified details; workmanship and inspection. 7. Timber structures – structural investigation and assessment: visual inspection; sounding, probing, moisture content and resistance drilling techniques. 8. Execution of expert opinion.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current assessment (tests): - total for lectures - 21 points; - total for expert report - 9 points; - total for laboratory works - 20 points. Control measure (test) - 50 points. Total - 100 points.
