Characteristics of the educational program: The program curriculum includes on-campus classes (lectures, seminars, laboratory classes and practical classes) and independent studies. The educational program is based on the well-known principles and results of modern scientific research in the field of nuclear power plants operation and it is focusing on the current specialization within which is possible further professional and scientific career. The scope of their activity is designing, operation, providing the culture of the safety, production, installation, set-up and repairing, creation of new equipment and an introduction of new technologies in the field of nuclear energy. The prolongation and the decommissioning of nuclear power plants, the handling with radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel, the nuclear physical safety. During the training students get acquainted with the latest achievements and master modern approaches to the diagnosis and management of objects in the field of nuclear energy, based on software and hardware. As a result of the educational program, students receive basic training in the specialty, as well as computer technology, programming and use of software packages for computer-aided design and simulation of nuclear energy.
Gained competence: - Knowledge of the fundamentals of natural sciences, mathematics, information technologies required for completing the common professional courses. - Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of nuclear power required for understanding the operating principles of the main equipment and their operation modes. - Knowledge of the main principles of generation, transmission, distribution and use of heat and electricity. - Knowledge of the main methods of analysis of thermal power and nuclear power. - Software skills applicable for design and computation of heat power of nuclear plant. - Knowledge of fundamentals of design of nuclear plant. - Knowledge of modern trends of nuclear plant development. - Knowledge of fundamentals of nuclear power plant safety operation. - Knowledge of the main factors of nuclear energy impact on the environment. - Business communication, team work skills.
- Skills in application of mathematical and digital models, software for solving engineering problems in the nuclear energy area. - Skills in development and manufacturing application measures which increase the reliability and safety during design and exploitation of the nuclear power equipment. - Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of the mathematical principles and methods required for the nuclear power area. - Using hard and soft skills in the nuclear power area. - Skills in analysis and using the specialized software. - Skills in using the main economic laws, ecological principles and elements of socio-cultural competencies.
- Ability to apply fundamental knowledge for designing new and improve existing nuclear power plants. - Ability to perform calculations and selection of main nuclear power equipment. - Ability to demonstrate the knowledge of characteristics specific materials, equipment, processes, and products in the nuclear power area. - Ability to demonstrate the familiarity with intellectual property issues in the nuclear power area. - Ability to self-teaching and to continue the professional growth.
