Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning: If the previous qualification level was obtained in another country the nostrification by Lviv Polytechnic National University is required. There are no mechanisms for recognizing the non-formal and informal education.
Characteristics of the educational program: Students receive the required knowledge for training masters in the heat and power engineering by specializations: 144.1 Heat power plants and 144.2 Heat and power engineering. The scope of their activity is research in the field of the heat power engineering of housing and communal services, industrial CHP, TPP, and NPP; modeling of heat processes of heat power equipment, the staging experiments, and processing of the experimental data to optimize the heat power equipment and analysis of their indicators of work, the development and introduction of new technologies of using low-quality fuels, alternative and renewable energy sources. During studying, the students master the modern software and technologies for image and mathematical data processing.
Gained competence: - knowledge and understanding of the scientific and mathematical principles necessary for solving engineering problems and using the research in the field of thermal energy; - knowledge and understanding of the impact of technical solutions in the social, economic, social and environmental context; - knowledge the current state and trends of development, promising domestic and foreign developments and the latest technologies in the thermal energy industry; - professional knowledge for the synthesis, design and adjustment of thermal power systems, taking into account the characteristics of objects; - possession of principles and methods of optimization of control systems and their elements; - knowledge special methods and means of control, measurement of technological parameters for thermal processes; - knowledge the methods of analysis and objects of modeling, performing experiments in scientific research; - ability to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of technical solutions in the social, economic, social and environmental context.
- choose methods and model phenomena and processes in dynamic systems, as well as analyze the obtained results; - independently plan and perform experiments, evaluate the obtained results ; - apply information and communication technologies and programming skills to solve typical engineering problems; - apply the acquired knowledge and practical skills, adapt the results of scientific research during the creation of new and operation of existing thermal power systems and their components; - search, analyze and critically evaluate information from various sources; - work effectively both individually and as a team; - combine theory and practice, as well as make decisions and develop a strategy for solving the problems of specialization, taking into account universal values, social, state and industrial interests; - independently conduct experimental research and apply research skills on professional topics; - apply a systematic approach, integrating knowledge from other disciplines and taking into account non-technical aspects, when solving engineering problems and conducting research in the chosen specialty; - independently design the thermal power system and its elements taking into account all aspects of the task; - argue the choice of methods for solving a specialized problem, critically evaluate the obtained results and defend the decisions made.

Academic mobility: Based on bilateral agreements between Lviv Polytechnic National University and higher education institutions of foreign partner countries.
Work placement(s): Pre-diploma internship according to the Master's thesis.
