Learning outcomes: 1. Understanding the diversity of postmodern approaches to ensure the integration of theory and practice and the creation of innovative social services. 2. Orient in the issues of international experience of social work, social policy and use this knowledge in the theoretical substantiation and practical introduction of innovative foreign practices in domestic social work. 3. Knowledge of resources, including those based on ICT, available for research in the special area of ??social work, social sphere and related fields. 4. Individual research - the ability to plan and on the basis of research to contribute to social and humanitarian knowledge, presenting the results of scientific research for publication in scientific journals and publications, conference proceedings. 5. Organize discussions in the form of scientific seminars, scientific meetings and public initiatives (socially-oriented working meetings), using information technology for database management, recording and presentation of material. 6. Initiate innovative complex projects, exercise leadership, demonstrate full autonomy in their implementation and be socially responsible for the results of strategic decisions.

Summary of the subject: The discipline involves the study by graduate students of issues related to understanding the role of science as a type of human activity, namely the choice of path to science and science of social work. Obtaining scientific knowledge based on a system of approaches, principles, patterns, which are provided by a set of research methods. Understanding that research in social work is usually practical, it should be focused on the study of empirical issues, followed by the development of constructive proposals for solving problems. Consistent use of scientific methods will allow the graduate student not only to explain the nature and effectiveness of practical actions, but also to identify problems that arise in the decision-making process.
