Learning outcomes: By the end of the module learners are expected to be able to:
- communicate in a foreign language in a familiar communicative environment;
- demonstrate the ability to arrange the information on the common topics in a logical and coherent way, demonstrate a sufficient appropriate vocabulary range related to the topic;
- tell about Ukraine and Germany;
- answer the questions concerning the topic being discussed; arrange discussions on the topic;
- choose relevant information on a website;
- communicate on the topics about traveling and be able to go through Customs control, post a letter at the post office or book a room in a hotel;
- communicate, get needed information in everyday situations, and on the Internet.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: The level of knowledge A1
Co-requisites: Ukrainian language for professional purposes.

Socializing in Language Environment (Getting to Know Each Other. Describing Daily Life and Learning Experience. Making Arrangements by Phone. Exchanging Information and Discussing News. Dealing with Problems. Networking / Socialising in VLE)
Searching for and Processing Information
Developing skimming and scanning skills: extracting main and detailed information. Distinguishing between factual/ non-factual, important/ less important. Listening for main and detailed infrmation.
Presenting Information. (Structuring the material for a presentation. Organizing and practicing Introduction. Structuring and practicing the Body of presentation. Interpreting visual aids. Organizing and practicing a Conclusion. Using visual aids. Language and rules of delivery. Using Body language. Handling questions and organizing a discussion. Delivering full individual presentations.)
Application Procedure. Writing a motivation letter for an academic course on an exchange student program. Writing a Resume. Writing a Cover letter. Attending a job interview.
Assessment methods and criteria: Monitoring: listening, monologue and dialogic speaking, reading, writing. Final test.

Approximately 3500 words of Japanese language, the basics of grammar, writing system, more than 1,000 hieroglyphs, which will allow to communicate in Japanese with all kinds of speech activity on the following topics: about myself, my family, home, my studies, my workday, Ukraine, Japan, native city, travel, tour, post office, shop, hotel, services for everyday life, my profession, research etc.
