Learning outcomes: Ability to solve complex specialized problems and practical problems during professional activity in the political sphere and to apply theories and methods of political science in conducting scientific research. • КС 1. Fundamental knowledge of political history, classical and modern theories of politics. • КС 4. Understanding of modern world and national political processes, features of functioning of political institutions. • КС 7. Ability to use and implement the latest information and management technologies in politics, solve applied political science problems, make effective policy decisions. • ЗН 1. Possession of system knowledge, which will allow to critically analyze domestic and international processes, to determine trends in their development; • ЗН 4. Knowledge and skills in diagnosing current problems of modern society, development and implementation of new innovative projects in the field of politics; • УМ 4. Combine theory and practice, as well as make decisions and develop strategies for solving scientific and practical problems.
Required prior and related subjects: • Pre-requisites: Modern political theories. • Co-requisites: Applied political science. Theory and methodology of political research. Current issues of transformation and development of the political system of Ukraine. Political analytics.
Summary of the subject: The national security policy and features of its formation and implementation. Strategic management and planning of state security policy. Democratic civilian control over the security sector. Modern challenges to state security. Hybrid challenges to state security. Formation of security policy of the state by its types. A security strategy of the world’s leading countries. Security policy of Ukraine.
Assessment methods and criteria: a. Current control (40% - oral examination, reports, discussions, writing essays, case-study research, preparation of presentations on a given topic). b. Final control (60% - examination - three-level testing).
