Learning outcomes: 1) Thorough knowledge of the history of international relations, theory and modern scientific achievements in the field of international relations and world politics; 2) Understanding of theoretical and methodological foundations of research in the field of international relations, public communications and regional studies, modern scientific theories and methods, the ability to effectively apply them to the synthesis and analysis of problems and trends in global and regional international systems; 3) Ability to effectively apply methods of analysis, modeling and forecasting in conducting research in the field of international relations; 4) Understanding of modern international processes, features of functioning of international institutes.
Required prior and related subjects: • Pre-requisites: Research seminar in the field of political science and international relations, current issues of international relations and global politics. • Co-requisites:
Summary of the subject: Subjects of international relations: nature and types. State and non-state actors in the international relations. Foreign policy: nature, principles of implementation. Correlation of domestic and foreign policy. Interest in the international relations. Interconnection of interests, motives and goals of international actors. International and national interest, their correlation. Means of international actors. Force as a means, an attribute of international actors. The essence, appearance and forms of diplomatic activities. Conflicts in international relations. Characteristics of international conflicts and ways of their settlement. Cooperation in international relations: essence and forms. Types of international cooperation and international integration. International order and formation of the modern global world order. Globalization. Global challenges of our time and their solutions.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Current control (40% - oral examination, reports, discussions, writing essays, case-study research, preparation of presentations on a given topic). • Final control (60% - examination - three-level testing).
