Learning outcomes: - ability to choose methods of research of processes, materials and their properties according to the set task; - ability to prepare information for the preparation of a scientific report on the performed research in accordance with regulatory requirements; - ability to conduct an analytical review of the scientific literature in the specialty, to choose a strategy for solving the material science problem, to perform the necessary production and experimental actions, to compile reports; - ability to choose the material for a specific type of prosthesis; - the ability to choose technological processes for the manufacture of a particular type of prosthesis.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: -theoretical foundations of foundry production -metallurgy and heat treatment Corequisites: - materials science and technology of artistic and jewelry casting
Summary of the subject: Discipline characterizes the main groups of materials used in the manufacture of various types of prostheses. The main metallic and non-metallic materials are described. Also characterized by modern technologies for the manufacture of prostheses, depending on their purpose. The discipline teaches to make the optimal choice of harmless to human health material for the manufacture of prostheses depending on the operating conditions, providing low material consumption, the ability to process and dispose of, as well as cheaper products.
Assessment methods and criteria: 1. Current control: oral examination, written reports on laboratory work, abstracts on the topic of individual tasks (40%); 2. Credit control: written and oral form (60%).
