Characteristics of the educational program: The program curriculum includes on-campus classes (lectures, seminars, laboratory classes and practical classes) and independent studies. The educational program is based on the well-known principles and results of modern scientific research in the field of thermal power equipment operation and it is focusing on the current specialization within which is possible further professional and scientific career. The scope of student’s activity is designing, researching, set-up, installation, and operation of thermal power equipment. As a result of successful completion of the educational program, students receive fundamental training in their major as well as in computer technology, programming and application of software packages for computer-aided design and simulation of power system facilities and thermal power equipment. An important component of the training program is the study of the principles of generation, distribution and efficient consumption of thermal power, introduction to modern energy-saving technologies and equipment. During their training, students get acquainted with the latest achievements in the field of power engineering, master modern approaches to the diagnosis and management of thermal power systems and object-based software and hardware. Bachelors majoring in the specialty are able to design, explore, exploit and maintain systems for generation and transmission of heat and electrical power, thermal systems of industrial machinery automated aggregates for thermal engineering systems.
Gained competence: - Knowledge of structure, control and optimization of the technological process of heat power facility, the selection, and calculation of its elements. - Knowledge of principles development of technological schemes, choice of equipment and other means of production process. - Knowledge of the basics of construction and operation of heat power equipment and automatic control systems of heat power processes. - Knowledge of software and technical support, which are used in facilities of heat power engineering. - Knowledge of modeling and design structure of heat power facilities. - Knowledge of methods and facilities of engineering and computer graphics. - Knowledge of heat and mass transfer theory, heat engineering processes and plants. - Knowledge in the area of heat power processes, technology of processing of regime information and equipment operation. - Knowledge of principles of obtaining, transmitting and economic using the heat.
- Ability to analysis of information and to identifying the optimal solving tasks of heat engineering. - Skills in using the specialized software. - Skills in using the main economic laws, ecological principles and elements of socio-cultural competencies. - Skills in design and maintenance of heat power systems. - Skills in simulation of heat power facilities. - Skills in handling text, graphic and multimedia information. - Skills in servicing and operation of heat power facilities. - Skills in using specialized measurement instrumentation.
