Learning outcomes: As a result of studying the discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes: Know - types of industrial thermal power plants; - energy performance of condensing power plants, combined heat and power plants; - initial parameters and intermediate superheat of steam; - steam and water balances, supply of process steam to CHP plants, heat for heating; - deaerator and feeding units; - energy characteristics of thermal power plant equipment. be able to: - calculate the schematic diagram of a steam turbine power plant; - develop the main provisions of the thermal scheme of the power plant; - choose technical water supply, fuel management, flue gas treatment.
Required prior and related subjects: – pre-requisites: technical thermodynamics, heat-technical processes, and units, systems of nature protection in the power engineering; – co-requisites: thermal engines of industrial companies, the boilers of industrial companies.
Summary of the subject: The steam converters, the reducing-cooling plants. The requirements to the quality of feed water and network water. The thermal deaeration. The thermal scheme of steam-turbine power station. The general characteristic of the thermal scheme. The scheduling of the principal thermal scheme. The calculation of thermal scheme of the steam-turbine station. The regenerative heating of the feedwater. The characteristics of the gas-turbine engines. The influence of the ratio of pressures, the heat regeneration, the intermediate cooling and the heating to the efficiency of the GTE. The technological schemes and the cycles of the GTU. The advanced schemes of using the GTU. The general characteristics of the SGU, their types and schemes of use in industrial TPP. The systems types of water supply. The treatment of the circulating water and the methods of the capacitors pollution abatement. The choice of the power and the main equipment of the power plants.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Running check (20%): the written practical classes reports, the oral examination. • Final control (80%): the test.

Summary of the subject: The calculation of principle thermal scheme of the turbine plant: the construction of enlargement steam process in single-cylinder or poly-cylinder steam turbine plant with using i-S chart, the calculation of the thermal efficiency of the condensing turbine unit with the steam extraction regenerative or with intermediate overheating steam, the determination of the steam consumption and the savings of consumptions the heat.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Running check (30%): the oral examination. • Final control (70%): the defense of course project.
